I'm walking out the door to go fuck a cop. I will be sure not to talk to her. Thanks!

You have the right to remain silent, but only if you tell the police that you're remaining silent. As per Supreme Court recent gutting of Miranda Warning.

Never talk to law enforcement without a lawyer present. Never.

Yeah, I have twenty-seven minutes of free time to watch that.

Don't do stupid shit and you never have to worry about it. It blows my mind that I am 45 and never had such issues yet so many others have.

Terrific lecture, I watched both parts. Insightful look into the constitution, personal rights, human nature and psychology.

you remind me of the people who swear by godaddy, because they've never personally had a problem, or think there's no issue with plugrush. In a world of 7 billion people, you, Rochard, have never had a problem (bearing in mind you aren't the sort of person who is bothered by anyone in authority asking what they like, acting how they want, because it's their 'job'), so therefore there can be no problem.

Riiiiiight.

Watching this video reminds me that it's very possible, one day I'll need to "get a lawyer" for some reason. It has to be one of the worst days of your fucking life when that happens.

This is an awesome video.

If I had been a customer of Godaddy for forty-five years and never had a problem with them, yes, I would think it's okay to use them. I'm forty-five years old and frankly I've never had a problem with law enforcement.

Your post says it all - You see "someone in authority" who is "acting like they want because it's their job". When I see a police officer I see a man who wants to get home to his wife and family. Yeah, some of them have a chip on their shoulder but you treat them with respect and they don't mess with you, and when it's over you remember that you make four or five times what they do and you don't live in fear of some kid shooting you over a traffic ticket.

It's very easy to avoid trouble, but I know a couple of people who bring it right to their doorstep over and over. I wish I could tell them that they could live life without scrapes with the law, but it's not my place to say anything.

So those who were put to death by mistaken identity did stupid shit?
DNA proved they were not the killers, but yet still put to death by a jury of their peers.
Cops got these dummys to talk and fuck themselves. Cops also force the lead of your voice with exactly what they need to close a case.
Now days, cases become work since thousands of cases arise daily, so most new cops do whatever they can to bag and close a case.

DO NOT TALK TO COPS EVEN IF YOU ARE INNOCENT.

For an otherwise smart guy you really have some dumb assumptions sometimes Rochard.
That's like saying well I am 45 years old and I don't have cancer so all those cancer people brought it on themselves. Still feel so smart and superior?

I didn't watch the original video. I don't care about the particular case. In fact, I would say we have similar opinions generally speaking.

However I would like to point out to you that it's not always the victim's fault. Law enforcement and ancillary jobs attract a certain personality type and sometimes things go wrong. When you're talking about law enforcement with millions or 100s of millions of calls per year across the country, plus TSA authoritarian contacts, border contacts, etc, it fucking adds up to a lot of interactions that have to go absolutely perfectly not to run roughshod over an actual innocent person.

I think we both know that real life is not that neat and clean. So of those 100s of millions of interactions, some are going to be fucked up. By mistaken facts, by misunderstanding, by prejuidice, by maliciousness, by a bad day, by a bad apple. The math says not only will it happen but it will happen quite a lot when you judge it by the potential impact on an innocent person.

Please pull your head out. I guess it's a comfortable place to be in but it's nowhere near reality.

We had a local female cop here who dated many of the boys. She kept pumping her latest for info on his friends so one night, while out partying, she was called to go bust it up because of a noise complaint.. by the time all was said and done, she was single, tied up naked to a flagpole and left alone. She's ridden almost all the boys already so really, it's not like they haven't seen her naked before.

Another cop came to untie her and she was transferred out the next day.. no charges.

L-Pink is 1000% correct. There is absolutely no reason to speak with the police.
I consulted a business lawyer who was a veteran criminal defense attorney who told me the biggest problem he has with his clients, "they open there mouth."

And ? A recent Supreme Court ruling on Miranda now makes "your right to remain silent" only applicable IF YOU TELL THE POLICE YOU WANT TO REMAIN SILENT.

Do you need to say it in exact/specific words?
I mean what if you say "I choose not to talk", does that apply?
Or "I will be silent" instead of "I want to remain silent"?

To be more fair these ^ things do not happen that often, compared to total number of investigation cases. And when they do it usually happens to certain type of people. So there are some truth to what Rochard says. These things would rarely happen to intelligent, well behaved middle class citizen.

totally agree, and this is actually what winds me up even more - lower intelligence people (christ how condascending does that sound, but hopefully you get my context) suffer a whole bunch of shit, with their only 'crime' being they aren't as intelligent as eg a bunch of self-employed internet marketers.

Not all lower-intelligence people are criminals, and certainly don't deserved to be treated as such, or have everyone shrug their shoulders and say 'dumb fuck deserved it' or words/thoughts to that effect.

Also, anyone can hit a rough patch - I've been homeless, as have others here, for various reasons. To be talked down to as if you are a piece of shit by some is bad enough, but when it's also done by those who are supposedly protecting and serving - well, you certainly get your eyes opened that not all coppers are good, and speaking for myself, I was fucked if I was gonna let them have my dignity too.

For me, the lecture was more of an expose on how the system is set up and run rather than a *next time I find myself getting interrogated, ahem, I mean interviewed by the police, keep my trap shut*.

That said, I learned much from the police officer's talk, while brash, he was very forthcoming re: how police can use psychology and such. Interesting that 25% of people exonerated due to dna evidence via the innocence project had confessed to a crime they never committed. One guy had simply mailed the police with ideas on how to catch a certain criminal. The police officer talked about how that happens, I was fascinated by the mind games he said they use.

He went further to mention how someone being interviewed very much wants to get out of that room, the police not so much, overtime is apparently big bucks. He said most cops are very happy to collect it.

L-Pink, y'all have some fucked up laws in Florida eh! Maybe the state should change its motto to "Welcome to Florida, don't talk to the police, but first talk to the police to tell them you are not talking to them." derp.

Less intelligent people deserve to get beat to death by cops or sent to prison for a crime they didn't commit? Makes me sick to think people such as yourself share the same air as I do.

It's not Florida, the US Supreme Court made that ruling.

You are less intelligent people judging from the fact that whenever you quote me, at least 3 times out of 4, you get everything wrong.

In this case you invented that I said they deserve that.

Check your IQ level, its running low.

In the meantime, me and Jel had intelligent conversation.
