Malaysian Airlines: Where is the Plane?

So, it's almost a week since it disappeared and no-one seems to have a clue where it is.

I was just reading this article http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...-west-hijacked

which suggests that the plane was likely hijacked and the two communications systems were systematically shut down and that manual intervention was the probable cause.

They also seem to think it headed back towards Europe and are now searching 1000 miles west of the original location.

So, what says you GFY? Where the fuck is the plane?

The really bizarre thing is the changes in direction.

It reached the southern tip of Thailand, before making a sharp turn to the south towards Penang, a highly urbanized and densely populated place (and apparently the hometown of one of the pilots). From there it headed northwest towards the largely uninhabited Andoman Islands, a territory of India. They're saying that India has very good air defence and radar, and that it wouldn't have remained undetected in Indian territory. And if fuel was an issue then why turn back and make the journey longer?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the hijackers were planning a 9/11 style attack on an urban area, but the pilots or passengers talked them out of it and made off towards a remote place instead. I'm sure I'm overlooking something really obvious though

Would it crash into the sea without breaking into bits. Surely there would be suitcases and bodies and papers everywhere. Not to mention a bloody great big boeing.

The media has been reporting that it may have ran out of fuel and crashed in the Indian Ocean, but that seems unlikely given the original flight path. Plus they add an extra hour of fuel or enough to reach two other airports, whichever is greater.

The plane could have made it to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Oman (which neighbors the terrorist hotbed of Yemen). Maybe the far southern tip of Saudi Arabia also (US intelligence leaks say the Saudi government funded 9/11). The possibility that they refueled somewhere and continued on can't be ruled out either. Another possibility is rogue employees filled the tank up in Malaysia.

Where they are at depends on what the end motive is.

you make a good theory but this is a Boeing 777 we are talking about, not a small object like a briefcase they are hiding. For landing you need a large airport, with an airport you have people. Lets be honest, All terrorist groups have been infiltrated at some point. Something would have leaked by now.

I just don't buy in to it having landed on land.

Why hijack a plane and have the world looking for it when you could buy a disused soviet-era plane from a communist country?

It is my own theory. But I can't think of any other scenario that makes sense on virtually every level.

[1] We now know with certainty that it was a deliberate act of sabotage and/or piracy.

[2] This was theft -- not terrorism. If they wanted to pull off an act of terrorism, they would have done it in broad daylight and in a much more public way (eg. 9/11), not the dead of night over an empty ocean.

[3] We know that the plane flew for several hours after it was last seen on Radar.

[4] They have reported that the plane never entered Indian airspace. And the US military controls the skies over Afghanistan. So that most likely rules out Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan. And China certainly would have known if the plane entered their airspace.

[5] It's 100% open ocean between the plane's last known location and The Maldives. That would explain why the plane was never spotted on radar after that.

[6] Malaysia Air regularly flies to Male, so the plane would not look out of place on the ground there, and the pilots most likely would be familiar with that flight plan / airport.

[7] If the plan is to re-purpose the plane for terrorism, then it's a pretty good bet that Muslim extremists are involved.

[8] Male, Maldives is heavily-heavily Islamic. And it's a splendid (extremely private) place to land, refuel, dispose of the passengers, etc.

[9] And from that position, it is a very quick, easy, open ocean flight to Iran.

[10] OH... and in the earliest hours after the plane went missing they admitted that there were a couple of Iranian passengers with fake passports aboard. But the media bent over backwards to tell us that the Iranians weren't terrorists, only "smugglers."

So let me get this straight... we have no idea what happened to the plane. But they know FOR SURE that those two guys could not be involved with terrorism. Really? I don't buy it.

• Best Scenario: They are wrecked with survivors on some island (unlikely)
• Stand Down Scenario: The plane crashed in the Indian Ocean
• Worst Case Scenario: Air Piracy or Terrorist refitting.

I would dismiss any Iranian government involvement -- they have plenty of their own planes ... For all we know the Iranians using false passports were refugees, defectors or the like.

Iranian involvement just doesn't make sense.

Hostage taking for some political reason might be a possibility.

Muslims kill Muslims all the time.. As far as the plane, the most likely thing, is it's at the bottom of the ocean, be it a act of terrorism, attempt to hijack it, rogue pilot or faulty equipment. The plane is deep under the sea and the ocean is a big place. They have no clue as to where to look so finding any debris is next to impossible.

Too many things don't add up for it to be non hijacking/terrorism related. When you add in the rapid change of elevation recorded by the engines and some of the last data received plus the change of direction with two passengers aboard with fake passports, It's easy to come to the conclusion, that there was a likely struggle on board for the cockpit and the pilots were over taken. Most likely who ever took over the plane had no idea how to read the instruments and got lost then crashed into the ocean.
