News Illegal Immigrants Kill Border Patrol Agent, Family And Media Denied Arraignment Access

The sheriff in Willacy County, Texas, refused access to media personnel and the family of a murdered border patrol agent at the suspects? arraignment, according to The Monitor.

The arraignment, held inside the jail where the suspects are currently in custody, was completely off limits ?for security reasons.? Sheriff Larry Spence told The Monitor he received anonymous calls for details about the arraignment ? like time and date ? and feared a jailbreak.

Gustavo Tijernia, 30, and Ismael Hernandez, 40, were arrested Monday when they confessed to killing off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent Javier Vega Jr., 36. Vega died of a gunshot wound to the chest, and his father Javier Vega Sr. was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the hip. Tijernia and Hernandez, who are both Mexican nationals and illegal immigrants, face charges of capital murder, attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

It?s concerning enough that Mexican nationals have shot and killed an off-duty Border Patrol agent, but it?s doubly concerning that the media and Vega?s family were denied access to the arraignment.

The Valley Morning Star reported the suspects are being held without bond.

ahhh yeah its real fucked up the troops were never sent. the border agents should have been through military training by now. also re-equipped reminds me of when a guy donated vehicle armor to the troops and bush refused it.

The reason neither side has tackled it is because of politics. Nothing more.

The republicans know that this is likely a subject where they can't win no matter what they do. They know they need non-white voters if they want to compete for the White House in the future. If they make a strict immigration policy they risk losing those voters. If they make something to lenient they risk angering their base and potentially their votes.

The democrats would like to pass some kind amnesty based reform, but that isn't going to happen with the republicans controlling congress.

At this point both sides are happy to pass legislation that they know will never make it through the opposing house and use it as political fodder then they can blame the other side if something goes wrong.

Funny thing is the right has changed there tune since 1986 when they controlled the senate and the presidency and passed the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act signed by Regan which gave amnesty to 3 million go figure

Which is a big reason the conservative wing of the party wants airtight locked down border security finished and enforced before anything remotely looking like amnesty happens again. They learned their lesson. And Reagan also stated after that he regretted the way it all went down.

That's the conservative wing only though. The RINO's want no part of border security. They want the chamber of commerce to be happy with cheap labor. They also want the drug running to continue as it allows bigger enforcement budgets etc.

The democrats want nothing to do with border security, because every time amnesty is granted, they gain a huge block of voters. So why would they want to lock down the border? And providing amnesty is still a loser political with the majority of the country, including within their own base. Which is a big reason the Dems never touched it when they had full control of Congress and the White House with filibuster proof majorities 2009 and 2010.

In the end its all about their jobs, screw the people and the needs/wants of the country. Status Quo is what 80% of all politicians currently prefer.

The amnesty issue is problematic for congressmen due to all of the anchor babies (now adults) who have illegal parents here. However securing the border probably doesn't have a negative side effect, so why aren't they doing it???
