Black & White Nudes... all shot on film (Pics)

I shot these all in the last few months... mostly on TMax 400 but a couple were shot on TMax 3200 and pushed one stop... a mix of 35mm and MF and all were developed at my kitchen sink. Anyone else still shoot b&w film here?

Very nice!
Haven't used film in years...but on occasion, I digitally modify to b/w and assorted film types.
{There's an app for that! j/k}
But, I do admit, I miss darkrooming...started that when I was abut 14/15...made on i the closet in 1976/1977!

Question for you. The pics are nice, but why bother doing it this way? I understand the film purists out there, and I think film for movies will always have its place too, but why bother shooting on film for the web? You can't preview the work, you need messy chemicals, then you have to scan them in, etc. Couldn't you reproduce all of the effects above in photoshop? Or am I missing something?

(Sorry not trying to be critical, just asking).

These aren't intended for the web--I shoot them with the intention of making prints in a darkroom, and I only scan the negatives because I want digital versions of them. I just finished a year's internship with a master printer in a pro lab here in LA because I wanted to improve my printing skills... it's just something I enjoy and find satisfying.

And yes, I can manipulate images in PS and make prints, but the prints are completely different to the silver gelatin prints made in a darkroom--digital prints are made by spraying ink onto paper; silver gelatin prints consist of silver metal that's created by the effect of light and chemicals and embedded in the print.

The guy I interned with just doubled his prices for b&w printing because there are only 3-4 other guys in LA who can print at the level he does. One of those printers now charges $85 for an 8x10 and one variation print.

Digital black & white

I like to play around with black and white too, but I just take a color photo and play with it to see what it will look like BW.

Nice! I still love shooting film as well. The cost of printing has gone up dramatically but the cost of film cameras is incredibly cheap! I just picked up a couple more Nikons on eBay including a Titanium F3

Dude the shots are awesome!!! I still shoot
35mm shots, both color and b and w and still use a full darkroom. I don't use it for my sites, I shoot stuff for me. I love my camera and it's never failed me. Keep up the good work.

Thanks
William
