Been a real good summer so far. Did a couple of gigs last month with the guys from my very first highschool band. Haven't seen a couple of them in decades. No rehearsal and barely a set list. Did a 4 set show at a local bar and no one left. Of the 5 of us 3 of them are professional, and do it for their livings.

Enjoying your summer?

Nice!

Enjoying it very much so far, we're (various fam) traveling the socal coast, my only big concern these days is keeping the potable water tank full, the drought is making peeps stingy with h2o, understandably.

July 6th made it 1 year I have seriously been learning guitar.

Just passing through. I am a capitalist. And a happy one. Arguing with people that look at life differently than I do, never made me a cent.

They can have their ideals.

Dyna Mo's witty term warranted a thread.

The fountain and landscaping was completed early in June. It's fabulous.

That drought is really getting serious. NBC nightly did a thing tonight and it didn't sound good. Glad to hear your musical career is moving in the right direction.

Those I have down. What I am still messing with is tone. I have it narrowed down to 2 different guitars.

I missed it too. And I have to say, it's really been fun playing out again. Get back to it. It's worth it.

Why not take both + a well dialed-in amp (a huge Marshall stack for Redhouse would be nice right?) and go with the axe your killing it with that day? (not giving advice)

Did Jimi play that on a Strat?

I probably will take them both. He did play it on a Strat. But that's what the guy I am playing with is famous for. Don't want to be a fanboy.
I'm on my 4th amp since May. I am pretty solid now with a vintage 69' twin reverb.

niiiiiiiiiiiice. I'm sure you're taking 2 goldtops eh(p-90 and hb), either will scream plenty through that amp, and be a killer tone difference from the Strat also in the mix.

these days I am all about single coil, live might get a little tricky with a p-90 though, if you can't navigate around that amp, as you know..............

Actually, I'm not taking an LP. I picked up a real nice 59' ES335 and a Suhr Modern Pro Config 4.. It's a super-strat design. Right now the 335 is favored.

I'm surprised. I would have guessed the semi-hollow would be too mellow, great sound on a good one, but to my ears noticeably less bite compared to my solid bodies, lp and strat.

That said I did bring the strat and my avatar es-355 with me and dialed the coach in with super solid 120v so I'm jammin on the road- the dyna mo socal beach rock fest!

I dropped the strings down to 9's on the 335 and it changes the tone. The neck access is really good up high, where a lot of redhouse is played. The tone is a little fatter on it which I think will compliment the strat.. EJ recorded cliffs on a 335.

Let me know when your socal tour vids are out!
