Why would a cam program tell you what to buy, if you are just sending direct clicks? They can do that themselves. You need to add value.

I get why they would tell you how to get traffic for *your* site, of course. Is that what you are asking!

Anyone can click on order traffic button but not anyone can analyse and properly filter traffic to make it profitable.Hence giving some pointers to speed up proccess should be done.

The reality is they will probably use you to test out new sources and then based on your success or failure they will adjust their in-house purchases accordingly. There have been accusations of programs shaving to encourage you to drop a certain campaign sot hat they can pick it up too. This is why many do not want to reveal their traffic sources. It helps keep them more honest.

Yes, if a good source is found and it is limited, should who found this traffic source tell no one in order to keep the bidding price low and the available amount high.

Yes, temptation of us the programs to check results of traffic we get it is big, actually we see stats as part of our job, and should be unseen, not easy. I admit at times I see new affiliates sending lots of hits with low or zero conversions then they stop, I check and I see where they buy from, and I "take note". At the same time, at times I see new affiliates sending few traffic with lots of conversion, see where from, and I "take note". How can we avoid seeing and taking note I wonder? Is that so bad?

Extend the 2 things above - telling the traffic broker is not enough. Within each traffic broker you can select the site and spot, also if banner one can use different image banner - and results are very different. I seen very good exo/juicyads/eroads/etc. campaign and some bad exo/juicyads/eroads/etc. campaigns.. was both in same broker, but over different sites and banners... that's called "media buying", a science on its own.

Thanks for being honest about it. Some try to pretend they don't do this. I think it's fine as long as you don't try to cut out the affiliate. For instance I've seen people complain that they thought they were being shaved right after they disclosed the source and in one case they claimed to have even found that the program started buying the traffic as soon as they dropped it.

Paying for traffic isn't my game so I'm only going by what I have read. That is part of the reason why it isn't my game. It's too easy to play games. I'd want to have my own program before I even thought about it. Without that you have so little control.

We use some of the major ad networks and the results are directly related to the targeted website publisher location.

You need to study the websites you would advertise on or accept the risk of the "run of the network" and the classification of the traffic source.

In a nutshell, success is not point and click. Expect to spend a lot on money using the paid ad approach hoping you find what will work with a decent ROMI (return on marketing investment) out of your revshare. We website operators are at an advantage in buying our own traffic -- we have a wider profit margin than an affiliate would -- facts of life.

Create a good content site and then slowly buy traffic to it. Advertise as an affiliate from this content site. Try different sponsors for YOUR website and find what traffic creates referral conversions to which sponsors. It's to your advantage to create traffic for your own website -- just refer the right traffic to the right sponsor.

The alternative is to create good landing pages for your bought traffic.

Let's say we buy the same traffic source, as available naturally, without touch the affiliate, is that so bad? Also, the affiliate may notice himself who is the next advertiser in his spot...

Have your own program and you'll learn that more than 50% of the new affiliates are cheaters in a way or another (carders for PPS, fake signups in CPA programs etc.) and this is taking a lot of time to check, find and bust before you lose lots of money paying them - also answering incredibly noob or trollish questions from them. This includes: "Sir I wish to make money with your program can you suggest me a method, please teach me" lol.
On the long run it is worth, because lots of good longstanding affiliates are there bringing relevant traffic, but at the start it takes more time than media buying.
