I live in California also, and we use Progressive. Every six months we compare all of the insurance companies, and for the past eight years Progressive comes up the best. We have our homeowners insurance through State Farm, and even when we bundle our auto insurance with it they still can't beat Progressive.

Their customer service is top notch also.

I'll check them out I have points on my record. I tried Esurance and they want $123 a month with a $245 down payment for basic liability

Esurance used to be cheap but they were bought out by Allstate in 2011.

You are eligible with USAA if you or your parents were in the military. USAA has great prices and offer a lot of discounts.
