| I don't care nor did I ever considered that as a viable topic for a conversation unless somebody went full messiah about their holy Jobs gear. I even don't believe that the "tech differencies" would be worth a conversation, or anything else in that respect, apart from the fact that one is obviously more expensive (which is pretty much the only factual difference that's hard to dispute). Guess it's really more about the way the Apple preachers easily get annoying at any given chance to support their team than about any actual differencies. If anybody uses Mac, good for them, but don't make it a centerpiece of your existence.

 | I started on Mac when I was young, but as I grew more and more dependant on computers, I needed more flexibility and was sick of being jailed, so I went to PC and haven't looked back. I do have an iphone, but as far as desktops/laptops go, I won't touch Apple. Way too limited, not much room for expansion, not nearly as many applications, etc.. I still trip out that Apple only holds 5% of the market share though, I would expect a tiny bit more like 6-7%. |

Rooted or jailbroken, anything Android can do iOS can do. But the hardware...Apple makes a much better product than anyone else. And you won't find a major tech site that disagrees.

A phone is a phone. All of the phones do the same exact shit. The difference is Apple Fanboys get their panties in a bunch every time Apple launches the same exact product only in a different size or color. "iPhones are the best, we don't need big screens" and then two years later you all line up like lemmings to get the bigger screen.

Is an entire computer better because some of its components such as its CPU & GPU faster than the same items found in other computers? Not necessarily because while it may do things faster at its core, the software or OS may not be optimized for it. It's impossible to compare PC's to Macs without including lots of detail and about comparing 2 very similar machines. For some users like me, Macs are better because they do everything we want, and have few to zero support issues. Maybe the latest greatest PC is faster, but it my opinion they bring too much extra baggage which despite its higher speed, decreases my productivity & enjoyment of the product, and therefore brings down its value. Therefore, to *me*, Mac's are better than PC's. Fast, sexy, clean, no baggage.

 | No. Run what you want. For me personally I tend not to like Apple. -I'm a Linux user and I resent another proprietary company trying to lock people in to proprietary standards. It leads to problems in the long run but most people just don't see this. -I think it's often overpriced given the technology. -They practically use slave labor despite pretending to be a company for hipsters. -I've used the iPhone 4s quite a bit and I wasn't really impressed with it at all. I found it awkward and poorly designed. It was nothing special. -I owned an ipad 2 for a time before I got rid of it. I constantly resented the way they restricted me from working with the $500 device I bought. I think it's ridiculous to pay that much money and be told what I can and cannot do.

 | Im writing this on a macbook pro. It really isnt a superior os when it only has to support what maybe 6 different models for which they also built the hardware. Windows has to support over a million possible different machine combinations. It would be interesting to see how OSX would fare if it had to support all the different possible hardware combinations windows has to support. Also Apple makes its products good enough. Whatever is the least they can get away with in terms of hardware, that's what they will do and while charging a premium for it. I got the retina display because it was easier on my old eyes and at the time there were no windows choices. Spending what I spend for this ok machine , I could of gotten an OMG windows laptop now. |

 | Funny thread. Im a Mac guy overal. But I do have to agree that its a "Sand Boxed" system and limited with what it can do if your a programmer or if your into serious customization. But for me; I edit video, edit pics, do graphics, run my businesses, check emails, check GFY, etc. I am the guy that pays for my programs, when I can easily get them hacked. But at the same time when I'm working on long time consuming projects, my Macs don't crash and always turn on. For me thats worth the over priced, inflated bullshit price I pay. That is also the same reason I pay for my programs. They are constantly getting updated and the don't crash. I know I over pay and it sucks, but then again when I turn any of my Macs on, they work and I go straight to work. Love my laptops, love my iMac, but I used to build out my PCs way back when, and the next Machine I buy, will probably be custom built running Mac OSX. I think the fact Mac is "Sand Boxed" is a double edge sword. You get the reliability with its customization limitations, and the damn thing always works. I think the root of the Mac vs. PC is: Mac Limitations, Vs. Solid reliability and PC's limitless customizations vs. Reliability issues. PCs are for people that love the limitless customization, programers, people who hate Mac(Lack of costomazation), Nice specs for the buck, and people looking for a deal. Mac are for Newbies, people that who hate and have had bad experiences with PCs, People absolutely need their machine to work when turned on, people who value reliability over Specs+and price, Girls and guys that like pretty things, Latte drinkers and a few others that slip my mind. Me I personally fall into the "I need my shit to work when I turn it on". I value reliability over Specs, price, customization and I also drink Lattes. lol Just Dave

 | I keep hearing "I've been with PCs for years, but after switch to Apple things just works " or "When I switched to Mac my productivity skyrocketed". Now ís it the 1.5+ billion Windows users (90%) that must clearly all be unproductive masochists, who just love the daily battle with their hardware and software.. OR.. could it be that there are ~6% who need a company to build them a stable hardware/software package solution which they in return must pay a lot extra for? Isn't it mind-boggling that everone from enterprise to average joe are still on Windows if OS X and Macs are really SO superior. After 12 years you would think more people had finally seen the light. What I don't like about Apple. - Their arrogance and holy, self-righteous attitude. - Their methods to take existing technology and present it as their own invention. - Their ways trying to be your parent. - Their prices. |

 | I could careless what OS someone likes for their phone or PC. It doesn't affect me in any way. You can run OSX on a hackintosh if you like the OS but not the price, MAC's don't run on special hardware sprinkled in pixie dust. .. Not everything can run OSX but for example my old Acer Aspire 4745G - Can run OSX, Ubuntu, Win7/8 etc I've used OSX and I didn't like the OS, it's a personal choice. Same goes for the phone,... it's just choice... What I can do without is just about every Mac user telling me how advanced and great their system/phone etc... is... Or having them list feature after feature that everything else can do. Almost like they need validation or justification. This very thread is an example of this... Has there ever been in all the time GFY has been around 1 thread asking why MAC users hate windows/linux? How many have there been of people asking why people don't like MACs/Apple? I'll end this by asking 1 simple question.... Why do "some MAC users" act like they are a vegan at a BBQ needing to tell everyone how bad meat is... I don't stand at the salad bar telling you how great meat is... |

To build for Android you can do so using the SDK on a MAC or nonMAC... A majority of sites (main stream) have related apps for their websites, (both ISO and Droid based apps) Add to that a large stand alone app development push. So it would make sense that developers more and more are using MACs... Would you want to explain to your client or VC that you can't build them an app of both Android and IOS, not because of your skill set, but because you simply can't run the SDK.
