The Russian military got lost again..

This time seems a Russian sub is lost in Swedish waters just off Stockholm.. The Swedes have been searching for it since a unencrypted message was intercepted on Friday as well as a visual sighting..

Meanwhile Russians don't seem to be aware that their sub was lost..

Putin should really invest in some better quality GPS systems and maps for his troops.. Even the Boy Scouts seem to be better at navigating than the Russian military..

“We still consider the information we received as very trustworthy,”

Sort of sounds like we got the info from the US.

If you read down, it says that the sub was sighted, but they also intercepted two communications. The first was reportedly on a Russian emergency Chanel and was not encrypted, the second was encrypted.

I would assume that they were first tipped off by either the US or another ally.

Got lost? WTF are you talking about? Probably has a problem with engines of something like that. But why is it lost? The only country which can't find it is Sweden as far as I know.

BTW there is some bullshit in that article. For example this: "Swedish intelligence operators intercepted a radio conversation in Russian on a frequency usually reserved for emergencies, the paper said." Sorry but an emergency signal can not be in Russian, Spanish or German. It last for milliseconds and contains a sequence of numbers. In other words it's a prepared digital packet - not a voice message like "hey guys, we are Russians and we have a problem with out sub". Ask Vendzilla - he knows all about it

You didn't read very well. They did not say the broadcast was "in" Russian. They said that an unencrypted broadcast was incepted on a frequency used "by" Russians for emergencies.

As for it being "lost"... That's a joke because every time Russians step their foot into other countries territory, Putin claims they were lost.

Just like when a Russian sub ran aground in Swedish waters the last time. The kremlin claimed the sub got lost...

When two fighter jets entered Swedish airspace a month or two back, Putin said they were lost. When troops entered Ukraine, Putin claimed they were lost..

It seems Russia's military is still using the stars to navigate..

But Comrade what is a Russian Vessel doing in Swedish national waters without Sweden's permission or knowledge?

That is the real point here.

I read it very well and explained why exactly it's a bullshit. Re-read my post again.

Obviously, the Russians were trying to make sure the Russian speaking fish were safe.. After all Russians do no wrong, it's always the West that instigates everything.

How old are you? I mean why you are so naive? NATO subs patrolling Russian waters, Russian subs patrolling NATO waters, Chinese subs patrolling both etc. That's a usual routine and that is what they (the subs) are designed for. Course nobody will confess to a boundary violation.

You got everything wrong.
Our brave submariners were on a standard unremarkable patrol route in the swedish waters (we are sorry about that, but Swedes seem like they don't need these waters anyway) when they met aliens. The first reaction was panic, the submariners are humans too after all. This was the reason for the first unencrypted transmission on emergency frequency. But after some time it become clear that those poor sods from the outer space are no match for the Russian people, absolutely. So, the aliens were arrested, and after short but gentle interrogation they had no other choice but confess they were american and japanese spies. This news was send by the standard secure channel (the second transmission) and the submarine is on its way to the Murmansk now, where FSB (former KGB) officers, without any doubt, will take the matters in their hands and the aliens will have no choice but to further confess in all their dirty deeds and plans. Stay tuned to RT, they will air details of this incredible operation very soon.

So Sweden lost trace of russian sub and now they panic? Well 0:1, good for Russia. What the point to have submarine of potential enemy knows the location? Looks like Sweden still using old equipment to trace subs.

Russia seems to have a lot of problems with their submarines in the past ten - twenty years.... Maybe they should give it up already.

I work in a military naval base in England, yesterday this little beauty rocked up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Jason_Dunham_(DDG-109) apparently its kitted out specifically for submarine hunting.

I should add we play host to international ships all the time so this could be completely unrelated... but it was supposed to be on wargames training in the Bahamas

I have to agree with CyberSEO on this one - a submarine gets stuck and sends a unencrypted message calling for help?

Yeah, right

I believe it has been part of the Joint Warrior exercises off of Scotland for the past few weeks.

Swedish military is a joke. Yet Sweden's still neutral and not part of any military alliance. At least Switzerland had all the banks and the gold stashed away, during WWII. What the fuck does Sweden have?!?

I'll bet you anything that, in case of a major war, they'd pussy out in a second and let anyone pass over Swedish territory, just like they let Hitler during WWII.

A strong economy?

What would you do if you ran a country with low military means? Fight against an army that is going to tear your people to shreds without making a dent? You'd make a shitty general... Sometimes you have to work with what you have just to survive.

Strong economy, sure. But not a BIG economy. Remember, Sweden's only 9 million people.

But yeah, I do agree with the second part. And so would Sun Tzu. "Forage on the enemy."

Sweden is one of the most developed countries in the World (way above the US for example), but India has much bigger economy than Sweden. I guess if you had to choose where to live between the two, you'd fly to India in a split second.

This has nothing to do with any single person's living preferences. As an aggressor would you rather take hold of Sweden's resources or India's? Right.
