That kid is lucky he didn't get shot. You can't drive over a cop's foot and expect him not to defend his life.

Wonder how much Mike Tyson would charge me to find the cop, get in a wheelchair and re-enact that event?

edit: any info on what happened?

While I would never myself, yet alone a police lieutenant, assault someone who is obviously over matched, I will again make the unpopular comment I've made before.

People are responsible for putting themselves in a position to have a negative outcome by their own stupid actions. In this case this ... "Officer Aaron Lorton is among the police who have been called to the Excel Center after Kincade (guy in the wheelchair) told school security he has a gun in his backpack"

Many times the reaction that's way out of line or even tragic could have so easily been averted if the person wasn't behaving like an idiot in the first place.

Again, not defending what the cop did but what kind of an idiot tells school officials he has a gun on him in the first place?

.

who is to say the guy didn't go back to school for nostalgic reasons, gets approached by security, detailed and asked if he is carrying weapons, says yes, cops get called with the reports of a gun

weird the dude would be allowed to go, after basically threatening someones life

All I'm saying is people control their own destiny in even the smallest way. When the guy decided to stupidly say he was caring a gun, which was untrue btw, then the cops obviously make an appearance and what happens happens.

i understand what you're saying. it's just how much more thinking did this mentally and physically handicapped person have to do to avoid being pushed over after following the officers instructions?

when does it become the responsibility of the public servants to make an exception?

it's funny how one paper makes one unconfirmed statement and this wheel chair bound handicap person suddenly deserves being assaulted by.. 5? police officers?

here is another case:

http://www.christiantoday.com/articl...tice/37114.htm

but, the dude definitely snuck into another theater. So he is a thief. he also yelled and screamed and eventually resisted arrest:

they killed the person with an IQ of 40. but, he was 'a douche' and deserved it?

Stop putting words in my mouth. My only comment is bad/stupid shit usually finds and happens to people doing bad/stupid shit. Like telling school personnel you have a gun, walking down the middle of a street instead of using a sidewalk, all are sure to draw attention you don't want.

By drawing attention to yourself you put yourself in the position of someone else maybe determining your fate. Only an idiot does that. And only an idiot keeps expecting cops, strangers, the public, to behave in a reasonable way 100% of the time.

My point isn't the behavior of stupid public officials, it's making yourself the target of stupid public officials in the first place.

Should I type slower so you understand?

only an idiot? he is disabled.

i am not 'putting words in your mouth'.. if you look up a few posts you can see this exact word being used to describe the foundation of your argument.

When you read the article it kind of looks like a perfect storm of two assholes colliding.

My understanding is that the police were called there because they thought the guy in the chair had a gun. They found out he didn't but did have a knife. Everything was done and over and they let him go and he drove over the cops foot and cop pushed him down.

Of course, only the guy will ever know if he really meant to hit the cop. I think he had some attitude and was likely trying to drive close to him (maybe brush against his leg) as he left. My mom has one of those chairs and they can turn on a dime if you need them to. I don't think he was expect the cop to react like that. The cop sees him coming and does nothing to get out of the way so it is almost like a game of chicken.

Regardless of the guy's intention, the cop clearly overreacted. I would have been fine with him getting fired and,in all honesty, I'm fine with him not getting fired. Those chairs are very heavy. It may have hurt to have his foot run over and he reacted in the heat the moment. Still, his reaction was inappropriate and he deserved to be punished, but (at least as far as the article says) it doesn't seem like this guy has a history of this kind of stuff and he is now working in administration.

the punishment for being an idiot these days is to get assaulted? if we are all so intelligent here, how can we not understand that not everyone on the planet is? It also doesn't have to be one or the other - the guy in the wheelchair can be a dick, and the reaction of the cop be so OTT that he deserves to be fired.

What if one of us intelligent people has a bad day while near a cop like this - should the correct and proper punishment for being shitty if 'insert_mitigating_circumstance_here' be getting assaulted by a cop?

The whole point of being one is that you undergo a supposedly strict selection process, and specialised training in all sorts of things, including how to deal with jerks. The very nature of the job dictates that you are going to be dealing with idiots all day long, including a great many people with a low IQ and/or behavioural problems (the very fact that he was being thrown off for what he claimed is a pretty clear indication he isn't quite all there).

The guy in the wheelchair might be the biggest douche on the planet, but that has zero to do with the fact this cop was an out and out cunt As for 'justice' - you think a guy who worked at walmart who assaulted an asshole cutomer in this way would be demoted, or sacked on the spot?

BINGO!!!! Thread winner!

Cops don't have the right to get mad. They need to do their job, and that doesn't involve assaulting the disabled.

The cop isn't fired because what the guy in the wheelchair did is the definition of assault. He assaulted the cop. The cop was wrong for decking him, but he purposely ran over him. Assault.

We can call it assault soon as someone tells me why the cop was standing directly in his path, if he was free to go... The cop stands out far enough he can't get past, sees the chair coming, and purposely places himself to initiate the incident, allowing him to knock a disabled person out of their wheel chair. If you are defending this... seriously take a step back. Cops aren't always the good guys. This is a bully bullying a disabled person because for whatever reason the disabled person pissed them off. This is assault via color law.

and also look how fast he responded. It was a millisecond reaction time. The asshole was waiting for some trouble.

We don't need sociopath jerkoffs like him on our police forces.

I agree he purposely ran over him (though also agree he was being a dick standing where he was just to make the wheelchair go around him), and though 'assault' seems an overkill word to use, that's the word used in law. So arrest the guy, do your job you were selected and trained to do. Don't do your job properly to the point you also assault someone (I'm guessing nobody would even try to spin that as self-defence), and you should be fired.

Like I said eralier, some dickhead runs his wheelchair over your foot while you are working in walmart, and you can nail on you'll be fired and arrested for assault.

Don't like dealing with assholes all day? Simple - don't become a police officer being paid to deal with assholes all day

Again, not defending what the cop did but what kind of an idiot tells school officials he has a gun on him in the first place?

.
Cops are not supposed to abuse people, doesn't matter what a person does. Cops who abuse people should be drummed out of the force.

If all cops aren't bad..... why don't the good ones just turn in the bad ones!!!

Get your shit together, learn to read and comprehend. In the post above this you rant about a post that is full of sarcasm and even has "sarcasm" written in the bottom.

In my posts I go out of my way to say I don't defend ANYTHING the cop does. I only point out that the best way to avoid cops doing something uncalled for is to make sure you don't do something so fucking stupid that you draw the attention of police in the first place. Like make the comment you are caring a gun on school property.

He can do like I do. Stop and politely ask the person to step aside so that he can get through. The cop severely overreacted, but there is no excuse for what this guy in the wheelchair did.

If you are defending this guy in the wheelchair, seriously take a step back. Being in a wheelchair, disabled, whatever, does not give you a green card to be a total twat. Purposely trying to injure someone else makes you a total twat, regardless of your status.

Both of these people were wrong. Neither have a defense.

of course there is no excuse for being a twat, but not all people are of equal mentality/intelligence/rationale. You wouldn't react like that if some kid did something like that, because you'd know he was just a dumb kid. I'm pretty surprised that people aren't comprehending that a person who would do what the guy in the wheelchair did, can't be the brightest button in the box by the evidence that he did what he did.

A trained police officer would surely realise that all people are not equal in the IQ department, no? Who would do what the wheelchair guy did, and not expect a consequence? Only a person without the brains of any sane, rational person - that stands to reason by the facts here.

Totally inexcusable by the aptitude-test-passing, trained, safety footwear (c'mon, have you ever been run over by one of those? It's like jarring your elbow - a million miles away from a snap reaction like what happened here) wearing old bill.

wait, so how should the cop have handled it then?

just stand there while the retard drive 300-400 pounds over the guys foot 2x?

politely ask the retard to please stop driving 300-400 pounds over his foot 2x?

stop the retard while 300-400 pounds is on his foot so he can politely remove the weight from his foot?

I mean really, cops are expected to have higher feet standards too? think about several hundred pounds driving slowly over your foot. badge or not you won't let that happen/
