Don't be a pussy. Skip the foil and cook it directly on the coals.

Yes, in the video the guy uses foil, but he's rather effeminate. The Epicurious recipe skips the foil, the way Dwight Eisenhower did it.

I have made mostly just sausage with fireplace, but campfire is another thing. But I guess the answer is, yes.

You can make great fish with fireplace if you just have the kind of cooking device that traps the fish and you can easily hold the fish over the fire.

Like this.

Put some orange slices and lemon juice and a little soy sauce on it and cover it and cook it on that fire - it'll be so damn tender -

Poke a stick into a marshmallow and catch it on fire

hot dogs on a stick... lol

A few years ago we had an ice storm and we had no power for several days and all we had was the wood stove - if we ate it, it was cooked on the fire - including my coffee. lol

Try this:

Slow cook stew meat for 3-4 hours, while it's cooking add; 2 bay leaves, 1/2 TS of cumin, 1/2 TS paprika, 1 TS kosher salt, 1/2 TS fresh ground black pepper and some fresh garlic. make sure that the pot is closed and you have water covering the meat.

After 3-4 hours add the same spices (cumin, pepper, paprika) taste for seasoning, add potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables or fresh mushrooms. cook until the veg' are soft. get some nice bread for the sauce and thank me later

That sounds so good - I am Diabetic, so the level of sugar would put me in a coma - but it sounds amazing -

I've cooked in the fireplace, but it doesn't turn out like the grill since it's hard to control the heat.

I even stacked bricks on the sides and rested the grate from the grill on them. The meat wasn't getting hot enough, so I put a cast iron pan over it to trap the heat and that really helped. I was using the gas flame for that.

I haven't tried it with wood.
