Does Google Cap Traffic To Your Sites?

Do you think google caps or throttles traffic to your websites? I have two sites that I have had forever and no matter how much new content I add to them the traffic has stayed the same for years. Constant 2,000 visits a day.

I've been searching online and see people arguing both sides but of course no answers.

Has anyone else seen this happen and if you have is there any way to fix this?

No they don't. They don't punish sites for appearing too much. They're always focused on giving the best results possible and if your site[s] are the best for the user's search then you'll show up. If not, work harder.

No ideal yay or nay, but I have one site i keep adding content to and it stays around 500 a day from Google. Seriously you can almost set your watch by it every night when checking awstats the google number is always plus or minus 10-15 hits from the day before.

That's what I'm saying.. no matter how much content you add it just stays the same.

It's like they count how many clicks you got and then cut you off.

I'm still under NDA for a lot of the algorithmic stuff, but I can say the following without being in any sort of breach (it's public info):

They're not counting your clicks for the purposes of suppressing your traffic, but rather to get a baseline to measure the results of visits. If you're getting people to click on your site, then they are immediately pressing "back", your bounces will be high, and your session times will be low. Google will then de-prioritize you, as the link was not perceived as valuable by the user.

I was at Google HQ last week having a discussion about this very thing ... what's your bounce rate, in Google Analytics? Maybe I can share some insights.

Your question is essentially, "does Google not try to show the user the best result for the phrase the person is searching for?"

Does someone really need to answer that for you?
