Internext Tip: Men with limp "Dead Fish" handshakes. What do you think?

As Internext approaches, I thought of something that happens to me at least 3-4 times of the 100's of hands I end up shaking in 5 days time.

What do you think about the "Dead Fish" limpy handshake?

I was always taught to give a firm, pronounced handshake and look the person in the eyes and smile when you greet.

What do you think when someone "dead fishes" you?

It's ok to me when certain girls do it, but when I get one of those from men, it just creeps me out.

**Tip** Men: Grab that fucking hand and shake it like you mean it!

its significance is antiquated... This industry has all walks of life. super confident go getters, guys who can barely make eye contact ever, loud guys, quiet guys.. none of it means shit at the end of the day. One thing I can tell you is though. You will never meet a scam artist who doesn't shake your hand firmly and look you in the eye first.

I'm more concerned about the people who don't wash their hands. Especially after using the restroom.

Disagree. I have met lots of wimpy, sneaky, stab you in the back characters over the years, both in the music industry and in the adult space. Computer nerds and agoraphobics are no less evil than anyone else.

I totally agree with all of your points! Saves me writing anything on the subject.

Thanks

To add; I met some very powerful billionaires and millionaires who can buy and sell me at a whim, that have limp hand shakes.

That's some silly old timer bullshit; every crook in the fucking world did that.

I don't really want to touch anyone's hand these days, they either have drug or gunshot residue on them.

Fist bump is fine with me, motherfuckers pick their nose and then reach out their fucking hand for a shake.

Do you want stop spreading the cold and flu; then stop shaking hands.

Strong or weak, scum come in all colors but more often in a suit and tie. I hate week handshakes and get a gross feeling but for the most part I rub it off since instincts can be incorrect.

I've turned into a fist bump guy vs handshakes.

Worked from home for 10 years. Never got sick other than the "show flu" when I'd get back from all the handshaking.

Started working at a real office is 2008 and was sick every 2 months from all the handshakes & touching door handles.

Starting doing fist bumps & using napkins to open doors and now I rarely get sick.

Unless we close some major deal or there's a good reason to shake your hand, I prefer fist bumps now.

problem is you are going to an event frequented by people from all over the world, and what is considered respectable here is not everywhere. Here we might value a good handshake and eye contact, somewhere else that is much less relevant. For example, (and forgive me if this is completely false, I tend to believe everything that I read on the internet) I read a couple weeks ago that in some Asian countries the handshake is much less important than something like where you put someones business card after they give it to you. If you take one look at it then put it in your back pocket, you are basically saying "thanks but no thanks fuck face!" if you put it in your shirt pocket you are showing respect.

I highly doubt that, not every women appricate a wimp, and a week hand shake is probably a insight into a week character

497 strong man handshakes vs. the 3 limp ones that I get each year. I'm not buying the debate.

On top of that, I'm mostly standing with people when it happens and the two people who are on the receiving end of the limpy shakes always end up looking at each other like "WTF just happened?"

LOL.

I think you are missing a key point. It is a learned behavior so it isn't insight into the character.

Sometimes when shaking a woman's hand, I hold back so I'm not giving her my bear-trap handshake --- but she gives me the bear trap. Immediately, I get the "oh this bitch lifts weights" revelation and I'm impressed with her grip.

But I don't like those weak handshakes from guys. Creeps me out.

The worst is when both of you kind of miss and the palms don't meet. You both know it's a botched handshake, but nobody says anything.

I'm old-school and was brought up with the idea a firm handshake is a sign of character and fortitude. A wimpy handshake is often indicative of a weak resolve or lack of confidence.

I don't really consider a "porn" trade show a "professional" environment, LOL.

But I actually do give handshakes, I just try to avoid them when I can cause the term "show flu" isn't a made up word, lol.

Not to mention when your saying hi to people you've known for 15 years it's not a bid deal to fist bump.

Stupid fucks will shake the hand of their heart surgeon and break it.

Seriously, if you shake a doctor or artist or musician's hand like that then you're an idiot.
Your back stage pass is thrown in the trash after you perform this stupid cultural request of excess.

This "look me in the eye" bullshit; I look in your fucking eyes and see a liar so what good is that shit.

Doesn't go exactly like that. It is one of the first impressions that may lead or not lead further into knowing each other.
Something like - whew, this guy has a limp handshake, must be some weirdo or weak character, i am not sure I am interested in knowing him better.

i guess it's an american thing. Here the only people who fist bump are certain teens.
LOL, I wanted to say the exact same thing (about American thing and teens here), but decided to be more political correct
It so strange that even hard to believe it happens (except between colleagues-friends etc).

I am with Silent Knight.
Look, it is as simple as that - if you are strong character and confident guy you would never limp shake even if you "learned it" when you was a kid or something. I mean you would obviously understand that this is not how a man shakes his hand...

While you may say that now, but in reality if I'm the holding the keys to a major deal where you'll make $$$, then the money you'll earn trumps how I said hello, lol.

If we meet in a loud club at a show where we can barely hear each other it's not a "business" setting.

But the truth is I do shake hands when meeting someone. But after I've met you, best believe i'll probably fist bump you. If that makes me unprofessional then so be it. At least I won't go home from a show sneezing & coughing, lol And those that want to make $$$ will still contact me. Those that will give up $$$ cause of a fist bump probably didn't have much business anyways.....

I'm sort of trolling here though. Of course I do shake hands after closing a biz deal. And of course I shake hands when meeting someone new in a biz environment. But after we've met and we're just saying hi or by in passing at shows I'll fist bump.

You misunderstood me.
I did not say I would refuse a deal because of that. I said that I would think "what is this joker doing". And then your business deal would prove me wrong afterwards, but my first impression would be bad, I would be less likely to initiate business talks with said person.

I understand it when you do it with business partners you know very well, when your partnership has some degree of "friendship".

Loud nightclub is another story, it is kind of "after party" and not an actual business setting, so it is not that bad.

Also it has to do with the age of who I'm speaking with. Of course with someone older I show respect with handshakes. But anyone younger than me I'm more likely to fist bump.

Maybe their dad didn't have to shake hands. He could have been the fist bumping type.

How long do you think people have been fist bumping?
