I'm sure most of you haven't even set foot an the arab/muslim country and probably never will or will ever want to. I was actually in Saudi and UAE (Dubai) during the attack and watched a lot of it from different hotel lobbies which had TVs.

In Saudi I was the only westerner sitting amongst muslim/arab hotel guests most of them in full burka, headdress and so on. I always like to integrate when I travel - its really the best way to understand a country and its people.

I was listening to the conversations and you probably would be very surprised to learn that they we're all shocked and angered and it wasn't a show they were putting on for my benefit. They genuinely are saddened and see no justification for it and I think that's pretty much the view of the people as a whole.

At one point I was reading Al Jazeera on a regular basis, and I was surprised their news was for the most part balanced.

We think of all Muslims as being bad, and this just isn't the case.

the truth is 99.9% of muslims wish the 2 gunmen were never born...

but the media is not in the business of reporting the truth it is in the business of making $$$...

there is not much money in the real truth...the headlines should be:

"2 idiots kill some trolls, who cares about the race and religion, idiots will be idiots let not encourage others"

but this:

"TERROR IN PARIS! ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS! FEAR! DOOM!"

will outsell anything...

people like fear more than the truth just look at the islamophobia on the boards these days with the "religion of peace" in quotes

I'm more surprised that people are surprised most muslims would be shocked/saddened. People really do think all christians are madcap zealots, and all muslims are western-hating extremists... it's fucking comical. Well, it would be if it wasn't so sad. Hundreds of millions of people completely influenced by the media and basically, gossip.

Definitely. And the US Government doesn't lift a finger to educate their own people because it works in their favor if the citizens hate Muslims. We preach one nation for all, and in the same breath passively encourage citizen to dislike a whole race of people for the actions of a few radicals.

They could be running PSAs on not judging Muslims. But they don't. Then need the fear for the world agenda.

Fortunately for the world, many Americans take it upon themselves to be educated and worldly. Hopefully those of us that do are reducing the hate for America in other parts of the world.

In Saudi they still cut people's hands off and even their heads if I'm not mistaken.. At least here in the US we are civilized enough to kill them outright..

Sounds likely. I have muslim friends & most of the world do not stereotype, so racism is not a factor, it's most certainly the terrorists & radical groups that are the problem & most people know this. Thanks for the read & news

It doesn't matter if the majority of Arab Muslims aren't foaming at the mouth jihadists, enough of them are and they are armed, dangerous and insane. Who do you think these savages doing the killing are, like the brothers in Boston and the brothers in Paris?

They are no different than the angry violent young men that live in every country - ISIS has exploited this and built an army of them to wage their holy war on the West.

To me this is a young male problem - I understand that most Muslims living in Western countries are decent people. So part of the solution is to keep young Muslim males out of our countries - if you're Muslim, male and under 40, you're not getting in, not for a visit, not as an immigrant, not as a political refugee, not for any reason whatsoever. Women and older men, you're welcome to come in the same as somebody from any other country.

No surprise the middle and upper class of Saudi Arabia don't like ISIS - they are a bigger threat to their lives than ours. We're stuck with the problem now, it isn't going away but it's not like we're going to be fighting a ground war against ISIS over here, ISIS could bring war and bloodshed to Saudi Arabia.

This. Seems Iran was successful in routing ISIS away from Baghdad and Southern Iraq (important for Iran/shiites) and sending them West towards Saudi/Jordan borders (also north to give the Kurd's some grief..).

If this was some attack in Iran/Syria/Lebanon or some Hezbollah leader killed I think the reaction the OP witnessed amongst his Wahhabist hosts would have been much more festive.

The way ISIS will move is essentially by surprise and by audacious moves when the world is not looking and slow to react as it happened in Iraq. Saudi has a weak military. But if Saudi went down, then its the end of the world is nigh time. Then all bets are off and i'll be wearing a tin foil hat (im not sure what its for, but ill wear one).

I also spoke to people in bars and taxi drivers during my travels and got a lot of feeling that they were concerned. Unsurprisingly, the security at the airports was heightened and the Dubai metro had a high police presence too.

That's always been my experience. Some hate our government but hard to find any who hate the people.

IF IS ever attacked Saudi it would be the end of IS, period. Attacking Mecca and Medina? Good luck with that.

Uhm. I think the world sat back and let it happen. Remember the huge convoy of trucks (Toyota's I believe) overrunning town after town with not a predator drone in sight? They weren't expecting Iraq to turn into an Iranian satellite post-invasion like Lebanon and Syria and so they thought ISIS would create havok for Maliki. Well he is out and the overconfident Kurds have their hands full and the Saudi's are shitting themselves. Tell your Saudi friends to rest easy, the powers that be won't let the house of Saud fall. I am glad the nation that harbored 8 of the 10 9/11 hijackers (if we believe the official story) is a bit less cocky now.

I live in the world's largest muslim population and it was just reported on the news yesterday. There was no mention the attack was of a religious nature nor the religion of the assassins. Thank Allah for gfy so I get get proper fucking news.

there is a world of difference between living in your own country and being shocked at what others do and moving to another country and being angered that they don't live as how you expect them to.
