I never, ever drink diet soda. If I want a soda, which is rare, I will always opt for a Coca Cola but one in the glass 8 ounce bottles. No plastic or twist off tops.

People who drink diet soda all day, every day, are actually addicted to all those chemicals in there. Sad.

It is because a lot of fat people drink diet soda but still eat a ton of food. I see people all the time order diet soda with their 20 piece fried chicken meal. People that really care about staying healthy and maintaining a healthy weight mostly just drink water.

This is one of those facebook scare stories, like eating bacon doubles you chance of getting cancer* sounds really bad.


*what it then fails to say is that your odds are 1 in 10,000 but eating bacon means you are now a 2 in 10,000 chance, tabloid headlines are built on the first example.

Why do idiots always single out diet soda? Shouldn't your criticism be in regards to ALL soda in general? The reason some people drink diet soda is because it has no calories. They want something low calorie that satisfies their taste buds in ways that water doesn't. Diet soda does NOT cause you to gain weight while normal soda most certainly does.

Also some overweight/obese people drink diet soda because they are diabetic and therefore can't drink normal soda.

Instead of scare tactics and bullshit why not mention that soda, diet or not, is not very good for you and make suggestions for things to drink other than water that are more healthy?

There are masses of products that are not good for you but I'd like to know exactly what they do chemically to me through the scientific method, not believe the opinion of some guy who heard it from some other guy, whos wife said her neighbors friend once got aids from drinking diet coke.

Anyway, I'm just pointing out the nonsense article, the article is a "LOOK AT THIS" headline, with zero content, we should learn from it when you think about what we're doing here

It's because diet soda triggers your body to store fat, just like sugar. It doesn't directly contribute to putting fat on you, it just creates a better environment for other things to add fat.

Many people who are overweight already are drinking diet soda's whilst tryign to lose weight or to at least not gain any more weight. Overweight people are at greater risk of heart attacks and diabetes as well. It's not like they took a control group of 1000 bodybuilders, started feeding them coke zero to see what happened...
Using ths reasoning that these people have, you could say that because people who bike to work instead of drive cars have less heart attacks, "car ownership may increase the risk of heart attack by 30%"

I don't drink any soda. If it shows up with a meal like it does sometimes. I might have a sip.

If i am going to ingest that much sugar i do it ina binge and eat chocolate. Or go nuts on some donuts with my boys.

Or wine..wine is full of sugar i would rather stuff my body with bad sugar from wine and chocolate.
