EURO ZONE: What domain extensions do people view as "local"? - GoFuckYourself.com

Outside of .com.

For example Canadians trust the ".ca" extension and view it as Canadian.

Do Euro zone people view ".eu" as local?
Or which extension do they look to as a whole?
Or is it individualized per country?

As a Belgian, I look at .be and consider it to be localized. That means I'm looking for a local Belgian branch of a brand / store.

The .eu extension doesn't give me much extra as a "local" feeling. If I want to buy something in Belgium that's linked to a local vendor, then I search for a .be site.

Great thanks for the clarification.

I believe also that breaking it down to a per country and on top of it per language basis would go much farther then per say a ".eu" extension.

I believe just as Canadians people would "trust" a more localized extension targeted to that area.

I am guessing that people also prefer domains in their "home language" in Europe rather then just an english domain name also?

Of course. Do English people like French or Italian domain names, unless it is some famous brand ? so unless it is UK, you have to use local word domain

".eu" is as crappy as a ".info" for me.

Local for me would be ".se".

I think .eu is not such popular as local zone, therefore it seems to me it make no sense to use it, at least nowadays

Each country has own extension. Even more than Canadians and .ca, because they probably view .com as some sort of local as well.
Europeans do not view .com as local at all. Just their own extensions.
