Xanax is the last thing to blame for killing. Its quite opposite - anti-anxiety downer. I take it every time I fly and killing is not the thing you'd think of.

Isn't it true that something like 400k people have died by handguns in the United States since September 11 2001?

Everything is working great. Change nothing.

It's not about education.

This is a combination of a mental health crisis and the fact that we hand out firearms to anyone who wants them. It's easier to get a firearm than it is to get a driver's license, and we'll let anyone drive a car.

A perfect example of this is my friend John. He's fifty years old, mentally retarded, and operates on the level of a 16 year old. His is disabled from both the Army and the US Post Office. He owns a house, drives a car, and operates as a full adult. And he seems perfectly normal until you talk to him for more than ten minutes - then you quickly discover there is only a handful of topics he can talk about. He hasn't gotten laid in twenty years, he hasn't seen his kids in years and they don't talk to him (they are German and in Germany), he is over weight, has diabetes, high blood pressure, and a list of other health issues. Although he is a nice guy, he is pissed at the world and plans on leaving the state because "Obama is going to take his guns". Yet no one can stop him from buying firearms including assault rifles. It's only a matter of time before he snaps and there is nothing anyone can do to prevent this because he is protected by the 2nd amendment.

At the same time the gun owners will say "But I need my firearms to protect myself". Very true. By making firearms so easy to get we've armed the criminals and the mentally ill and now we'll need to protect ourselves from them. At the same time when we need someone with a firearm they aren't there. They weren't there in the church and they weren't at the block party where ten people got shot just the other day. Or if they are there they are unable to do anything because they aren't trained, like that guy in Wal Mart in Vegas who couldn't hit the side of the barn and got shot dead when he confronted two gunmen or the local homeowner here in town who pulled out his shotgun during a home invasion and promptly got beat nearly to death with his own weapon.

No worries. We'll just continue to bury our heads in the sand and do nothing.

Too bad some of the people attending church were not armed -- less people would have died.

That asshole would have used a suicide belt or a truck bomb if he new he would be shot on sight

People that want to kill can kill. Guns or not. Be like ISIS use a sword ... Against unarmed people he may have killed a few ...

Your argument is counter productive as it shows that with out access to truck bombs in the US no one uses them..

Think about it, in the last 20 or 30 years what has there been 2 or 3 truck bombings? The Oklahoma federal building and the first attack on the WTC is all I can think of.

Why is that? Why because it's kinda difficult to get the materials for the average person. Yet as we see in the middle east they are very common because it's very easy to get the explosives there.

Now think about that for a moment.. if there weren't so many guns and such easy access to tgem..then we wouldn't see gun related crimes like we do because people wouldn't have easy access to them..

Yes if they were determined they could still kill people, it just wouldnt be with guns.. maybe the popular thing would be to run people over with trucks or something.

Now b4 you get all, you wanna take ma guns away, that's not what I'm saying. I realize the genie is out of the bottle and it's likely impossible problem to fix but I just wanted to show that your argument wasn't really valid.

Like I said to my friend the other night, if he had had to use a knife he might have killed one person. Much more likely he would have aborted plans to do anything except go to the dairy queen because it's the coolest thing to do in his town as a young person.

By the way, under no current pre-screening system would that kid have been deemed anything other than normal and no risk when purchasing his firearm. He was not mentally retarded or a criminal. He was a normal, law abiding, responsible gun owner by ALL currently used measures!

Everything is fine. If only more people had guns.

You could conceal a baseball bat with barbed wire on the end under a coat and bash people's skulls in with it too and kill them. Pistols are just more efficient ... I am not disarming unless the police, army and criminals disarm too -- that will never happen.

It's just too bad there was not someone armed like an off duty policeman to take that fucker out dead cold ...

Hypothetically: Load a van full of 100 pound propane cylinders then attach them together on one hose, open the hose and make a cell phone detonator -- park the van in the front and wait for everyone to exit at once -- IED -- BOOM! You don't need a gun if you are a nut and you don't need a huge quantity of fertilizer or accelerant. But you do need a evil brain. Low IQ neo Nazi racists need a gun I guess. This piece of human shit had a gun. The piece of human shit killed 9 people and not the gun -- he made a conscious decision to kill.

Charles Manson used knives.
The Boston Bomber did not use a gun.
The 9/11 Terrorists did not use a gun.
The list goes on.
