I imagine you are going to get ridiculed with this intro post. Do yourself a favour. Research research research. That will help you get an idea how to get started. Then come back

Make sure you do your homework.

Do tons of research and decide what it is you'd like to do. Base that on what you like yourself.

There's a lot more to it, but that's a good start.

Bruce has an excellent point.
First find out what you own fetish is.
Since you know what you find interesting about your fetish you will be able to market it better.
As time goes by you will be able to market what you dont get but go step by step first.

Hey Dn, welcome to the wonderful world of Adult. If you play your cards right you will do great in this business. If not it will eat you up and spit you out for dinner.

If you would like to talk one on one email me, but put in the subject line GFY

I will tell you what some have already told you, RESEARCH but DON'T OVER do the research. Too much info is almost worse then no information. Pick something that really turns you on. Pick something that you can really see yourself doing for the long haul. I see too many people starting up sites they are not really into because they think that is what's selling.

There are a ton of ways to do this the wrong way and only a few ways to pull this off to make a little money and only a handful or less ways to make it so you never have to work for someone else.

I will tell you this too watch out for people trying to help you only to sell you something. Yes it happens all the time. When ever you do decide to pick someone to help you use GFY search and find out EVERYTHING you can on that person. Ask around about that person that wants to help you. Eve if it's me that wants to help. NEVER trust anyone 100% on or off this board.

Good luck brother.

TOM

Work with established sponsors as an affiliate even if you do have the money to make a capital investment -- a pay site of your own. Learn with their backing.

You need a couple of hundred (dollars or equivalent) at least to get started. A virtual server account will cost you that to maintain for a year and a domain name for the server. Then you are an Internet presence. Sponsors won't event talk to you until you have that established -- get serious.

Don't quit your day job, if you have one, any business takes time to establish. Most will fail the first few times. Instant success is rare. Keep trying as long as you can.

Burn the Ships! Keep moving forward. Never forget that the point from where you began was worse than what you have gained (hopefully or until you go broke ) . Remember, McDonald's is always hiring ...

You don't need a virtual server. shared hosting is fine to start and yes, sponsors will deal with you.

Success in porn today depends on what you will bring to the table.

There are 1,000s of experienced people with established sites, left or in the process of leaving the industry. Because they all very much do the same thing.

What are your skill sets, how much time and money can you devote and how much experience in anything do you have?

As you see there are a lot of people telling you to send them traffic, offering to sell you something and a couple being cautious.

Quote:
Step 1 - invent time machine
Step 2 - travel back to turn of century
Step 3 - make a few galleries and submit to high traffic TGPs
Step 4 - cash fat checks
Best advice so far for all. If you have the talent to make it in porn, you'll likely make more selling something else that isn't given away to 100,000 so 1 will spend $100.

Welcome and GFY lots of good advice, take it,

just make sure you have all of your ducks in a row, have a plan and know what direction you are going to go before you start,

start off small with a niche that you like, if you are straight and like blonde babes with big tits that might be where you want to start, but if you decide to go the gay midget route and you are not into that type of stuff the surfer can tell and you will lose interest fast and wonder what went wrong,

best of luck and don't get discouraged!

virtual hosting is not VPS

'Virtual hosting is a method for hosting multiple domain names (with separate handling of each name) on a single server (or pool of servers). This allows one server to share its resources, such as memory and processor cycles, without requiring all services provided to use the same host name.'
