Monetizing Youtube Videos?

I've been doing a tutorial series on Youtube for years - mainly Photoshop, CSS, and some Maya tutorials. A couple of my movies have over 200,000 views and my channel has a couple hundred subscribers. It was always a hobby, something I enjoyed doing but also used as a way to solidify my skill set. But now I want to monetize the videos without making the ads too obtrusive to my viewers.

Does anyone have any experience in making money off Youtube? If so, what avenue did you take? Also, if you served ads, how were they served? What's the average earned income potential for let's say 100k views? How about 1M?

I know I'm spit-balling a bunch of questions -- I'm just tossing out a bunch of chum and seeing if anything is out there worth fishing for. Thanks!

It doesn't have to be just on Youtube, either. I'm interesting in learning about any media streaming site with earning potential.

Just get your ad sense account created. Then I believe you have to apply to be a YouTube partner. It's been so long I sort of forget how the exact process went, but you'll find all the answers in your YouTube account.

Then you just click the monetize video link beside each of your videos and that's it. YouTube will automatically place the ads.

What you'll make is going to vary but I've got a video with a little over 50000 views that has made $80 and one around 100000 views that has made $336. So as you can see the ad revenue is going to vary a lot depending on the content of the video and what ads get placed on it by YouTube.

1) Connect with adsense.
2) Get email addresses.
3) Push a related affiliate program.
4) Keep adding videos.

That should kick start things.

I just started one about a month ago but I shot concert footage from the front row so a few major record labels claimed copyright and so the minimal banner ads showing would be credited to them and not me. Don't really care as wasn't about making money just happy they let the videos ride and didn't delete the soundtrack. Would be curious to know how much it's making them though. So the only benefit it's doing me is links to one of my mainstream sites in the channel description and on each video page along with my username being my site name. May shoot more concerts in the future and see if those pan out the same as I generally get front row tickets.

I wasn't able to get an adsense account. I have a survival gear site and made some videos of my camping gear. Linked back to my website that has Amazon affiliate links.

I made some sales off of that. I think if I kept making videos I could have done well. But a ton of competition on youtube for survival/prepper stuff.

Tip: Watermark all videos with your domain that links back to you channel page, Put your link (http://.com) in all videos descriptions, That way if you get banned, you will still get traffic to you domain you can use for you next project.

You may not learn, sufficiently, how to do it right, from a forum. I would get some books from amazon.com, or check out SafariBooksOnline.com (this is good referral, a lot of books, and 10 day trial for free).

I've got some moderately successful YT channels that make me about $65 a day. Every once in awhile one of my videos goes semi-viral and the numbers get a good jump for a few months. I've been approached by 2 different ad networks but have stuck with Adsense so far.

I've always heard those ad networks that contact you on youtube were a bit of a scam. Is there any benefit to joining them?

Pretty sure they are a scam. They contact me all the time, asked about them at a google seminar and they were not aware of them.

If you have a good amount of subscribers who are passionate about your content you could always set up a Patreon campaign. I see You Tuber's monetizing this way frequently.

I held off for years, didn't monetize my YT vids as I didn't want to impede on my viewers watching experience. That's when YT monetization was new. I think now, people have come to expect the ads (or run adblocker!) so I've monetized all my vids using adsense. Its an extra revenue you may as well tap into. Good luck making

If you haven't already, definitely monetize your channel!

Just taken a random day from my adsense youtube earnings...
20470 views, 1403 clicks £55.74
