I was reading this earlier. Basically people using bots to boost their room to the first page. The rooms are pretty crap apparently. You have many top spots that are taken by faceless girls, "sitters" and "waiters" or just seriously stupid "porn" rooms (no interaction between broadcaster and audience), who normally would have NO chance to get such exposure. Sometimes these rooms are even empty, broadcaster leaves the room for a break and these can be long, so like magic there is an empty room on the front page, sometimes in the top two rows. I heard chaturbate had this problem before and were good in stamping it out. Here are some of the rooms apparently doing it:

Chaturbate should hire some employees that regulary check the models/front page of the site and monitor if there are any red flags in the viewer IP'S/ Signature/ The model itself breaking rules etc.

I think that would solve a lot of issues for them and us

I don't think they lack workforce, even if it may be a small company, it is a huge community, everyone checks everyone. It's just that there is a discrepancy between what we consider acceptable and what they consider acceptable.

We could set up an online spreadsheet (google drive kind) with a list of items to be looked at and their status. Something like:
id; item name; item description; priority; severity; status; comments/link to a blog or forum

It would give us visibility on what is going on and where we're heading instead of individually sending an email to support. This would also re-inforce trust by giving a sense that we are collaborators and partners: "we're all in the same boat".

I feel your pain dude. She is using the "clara_chan" technique (inciting to create a new username prepending "e_" to the username) though unlike cc she is not covering the LOGIN button.
And she is advertising her cb powered site too.

Ultimately only models will benefit from chaturbate affiliation.

Originally I was using the API to build my own layout (which doesn't include the bs). I suggest you go down that road and block their clickable images using the custom css I shared here (even with your site you need a whitelabel to go with it for registration).
That will only slow down the inevitable I am afraid.

I see another potential cause for lower revenue: I just noticed if you select "Credit Card" as a means for payment, it will then default to a monthly subscription : That has to be confirmed, but I think we only make commissions on tokens purchased, not on subscriptions. It is all in the wording:

I believe it was said that broadcasters are allowed to post their links on their profile page.
The rational behind it was that the first cookie wins so if an affiliate sends traffic to a page, his cookie won't be overridden.

This is wrong for 2 reasons:

1- if the unregistered user is on your whitelabel (non-chaturbate domain) and clicks on the broadcaster's aff link (chaturbate domain), the first cookie planted on the chaturbate domain is the broadcaster's. It seems to me in this case the original referrer gets a raw visit hit, but no chance to convert.

2- as seen above, some broadcasters who appear on the top row on a regular basis are actively re-assigning existing members essentially moving them from you to them.

I really dont mind when they post their affiliate link on their Bio, seriously.

What i do mind is that they OBVIOUSLY ask members to sign up under a new account, clean cookies and stuff before it, so they get the rev-share. I also mind this picture that i quoted above, its PLAIN STEALING (like ianmoone332000 already said)

And you know what bothers me the most? That we haven't had any updates from Steve yet, yet he is in this thread and seems to ignore this post above with the Efetishism Picture?

The banner on efetishism's page is not breaking any Terms. It's not covering any site function or being misleading.

clara_chan's banner is covering site function and I see that a warning has been sent to have it moved so it doesn't overlay anything.

Broadcasters on Chaturbate are allowed to post their referral links and banners on their bio. They are not allowed to overlay any site function or mislead users with their banners/links. Please submit any instances you see of broadcasters overlaying site design or misleading users to [email protected] so it can be reviewed.

Showing that image instead of actually broadcasting yourself is simply spam. That's a static image, it's not what models do. It's a marketer with a viewbot. Probably from BHW. There are several threads in their HaF section regarding that. Models are using viewbots only God knows since when to boost their legit channel, but this is different.

The issue is the primitive ranking algo. They should work on a better one, which is more complicated to crack. The first step could be a better ip filtering, because when you bot with 1000s of proxies to get to the top, those must be low quality proxies, otherwise it wouldn't worth it. Unless they're part of a botnet.

If someone really wanted, he could occupy all the top spots with this technique paralizing the site.

I'm not promoting chaturbate, but it seems they don't give a fuck about webmasters' complaints. They like stealing from you and that's why Steve acts as if he doesn't understand your questions and he just gives replies without actually answering the serious questions.

The webmasters worked very hard to get where they are now and to get the income they had been getting, so give them what is rightfully theirs! Models are broadcasters, not affiliates! They should be only making money by broadcasting. Webmasters have no other way of making money, besides getting commissions for the traffic they send. Why should models have two sources of income (broadcasting and affiliation)? It is painful to see that such a site (with good reputation so far) encourages theft on such a big scale.

That is why I say we assemble online, we could gather our complaints give them a few weeks/months to address the concerns. If they refuse to fix those problems we quit being selling chaturbate. They responded to me every time when I had an issue regarding videos, so I assume they would read what you have to say to them about this too. Simply contact them. If chaturbate gets away with this, other sites might follow. Jasmin is already using watermarks with the main site on white labels and their girls post their referral link right on the site, xlove lets models use T-shirts labeled XLOVEcam.com (I have a screenshot with this), Jasmin does this T-shirt stuff as well, flirt4free also had some girls wearing caps with the site's name on them, thus stealing traffic from white labels, and a few days ago I saw a picture of a girl from Imlive with a big banner behind her, a banner that said Imlive.com

Is this the dawn of webmasters? Why do the main sites mock their webmasters like this? I really think you guys should blast xhamster and mindgeek with messages about this, even with a link to the most important posts here, posts that clearly show how traffic shaving is done. I would contact them myself too, if I were promoting them.
