Amerinoc Replacement

I have about 60 sites hosted with Amerinoc. This 12+ hour issue is costing me every minute. I am now forced to find an alternative. While they have been one of the more reliable hosts I've dealt with over the years, I can't take the chance to lose money this long.

Please share recommendations...

FYI, I do have a dozen other hosts I'm working with.I trusted Amerinoc with my main sites and now I need to make some adjustments unless they are back in a couple of hours.

Moving server is a big pain in the ass, yes their down time is costing too much to every one with them but this can happen to any of the host. If you move to MojoHost or Webair or any other and same network outage comes up then what to do?

Amerinoc should be worried like us about this because their name and business is effecting big time and it will effect them in future business...

At this moment of time we cant take headache of moving host..

If you looking for alternate then MojoHost is always the solution...

Their reason for the outage better be better than the lack of communication thusfar, plus a gesture to their clients moneywise.

At least offer their customers a ticket out without any form of cancelation period.

Their communication has been terrible. Have they lost our data? Is it just a network outage? If so, why is this taking so long? Why the non-specific ETAs?

Level3 outage? Current problems and outages | Down Detector

Maybe a techie here can explain how this ^^^^ is Amerinoc's fault. I'd rather have them working on the issue than answering trolls. With such an emergency going on they should have someone from billing to float news on Twitter. Big customer relations mistake for them.

Thanks for the troll-calling. I'd rather call myself a concerned business man with losing sales and reputation.

If it is a power outage, they have plenty time to create a well-formulated, well-written and detailed message about what is going on, how to solve it, what they are doing, what causes similar situations and what not. Maybe even an apology. I did not see any of that either.

If a server crashed, then that surely would cost more time to fix, such as retrieving data from backup images. A power outage, to me, seems like a loss of energy, power so to speak. Nothing to do then other than lean back and hope for the best and a fast return of enrgy supplies.

And, moving servers is a pain in the ass for sure, but believe me, even with 100+ websites and different scripts, it takes less than 14 hours of downtime.

I agree 100%. The lack of communication during such a serious outage is almost as bad as all servers being down for 15 hours.

Any trust or confidence I had in Amerinoc has dropped to zero.

Trust/confidence is a big part of what we are paying for with dedicated server hosting.

Time to move to a new hosting company.

Anyone have feedback on Mojohost?

I'm not going to jump ship till I know what is going on.. yes I might look into other hosts that can handle my needs but I'm hoping they come back online and handle themselves better than they have so far in this.? 13 years with this host means something and I hope they feel the same way about my business when they are back up,,

I am looking for a host who has tens of thousands of clients. Those cannot afford any downtime. Big ones, like Amazon etc..

Let me know if/when you find one.

I have about 150 sites with Amerinoc. I feel the pain.

This looks above and beyond them. I am sure if they could flip a switch they would or they have.

It's obviously an upstream network issue as many Fortune 100 companies have been hit by this.
I'd like them to talk more but if it takes them away from necessary tasks I am ok. I am smart enough to ascertain it is not directly their fault.
Even a Plan B requires migration and or propagation.

What I find strange is that it is media silent. Means something is up beyond Houston maybe. Every major player in US internet is scrambling. I am sure Amerinoc piggy backs off one or more of them. Maybe Amerinoc can be blamed for going cheap. I dunno. They are obviously priced way below MojoHost and others...so we get what we pay for.

Can you list a few corporate sites that are down? I'm genuinely curious about the cause of this mess.

Damn, I was about to move my sites to them as my partner uses them to host her sites... she is distraught as it's costing her money and grief.

Their twitter feed is useless, updated 2 hours ago withthe "outage" and no ETA as to when it will be resolved.

This is very worrying!

Agreed. I don't know if this has anything to do with it being the weekend, but their handling of this is atrocious. Communication is key in a situation like this.

I wonder if they are a reseller using large servers from another company? A lot of web hosting companies do that.

Buy a dedicated server from OVH for $109 and cpanel for $34.99 a month.
You'll never look back at managed hosting.

Yes this outage has been extraordinary ... we are losing out too. Dreamnet.com and all it's associated sites are in this complex. I can't imagine what could keep it down this long other than denial of service attack or a real physical problem like construction accidentally digging up cables under the street or something. Sucks

We have been with Phatservers / Amerinoc going on 15 years and never have seen anything like this.

Very bad news. It's never a good day when a host is negatively impacted.

A couple of thoughts I would would like to share though.

-- Unless you have a remotely accessible backup copy of everything, by the time you get a new server deployed, setup, and data transferred, DNS changed, etc, it is likely your existing sites will already be up.

-- It's well worth considering using a remotely hosted storage server, usually about $100/mn unmanaged, and install your own backup software. There are many options out there. BackupPC, for example, works very well. Use it to back up your entire network and in the event of a disaster, you can deploy pretty quickly to another server. It's also good if your existing host provides backup solutions. Redundant backups are not a bad thing.

-- If you've enjoyed great service with Amerinoc, sometimes the grass is not greener elsewhere and you could find yourself jumping from host to a host for a few moves till you find another one you like.

-- If you do feel the need to move asap, then the first place you should probably look is Web Hosting Talk. There are always deals and specials going on. It's also a resource to research hosts, reputations, complaints, etc.

-- That all said, Amerinoc needs to step up here and increase communication. This is paramount. EVERY host will suffer a problematic stretch. It's how they handle it and, more importantly, communicate it, that keeps customers and either cements or destroys their reputation.

I have no skin in the game, but completely understand the issues facing everyone here. I hope you all get your sites back up quickly and smoothly. Good luck everyone.

Word on the dark web is that this is retribution on Level3, the network provider for Amerinoc and tens of thousands of others, for their role in taking down this cyber-crime network.

Then again this happened with Level3 June of last year too

To be clear, you can only fault Amerinoc for poor communication, everything else is beyond their control and your data is not affected.

Switch your DNS to a maintenance page or your twitter or your Tumblr or your blog, or signup for Cloudflare for free and their site down page will come up automatically.

Enlighten me... how does that go about?
You mean use cpanel to restart etc. when a possible problem occurs?

How about setup, like PHP upgrades, MEMCache activation, ioncube etcetra. Who would handle that?

Not sure if it's a good idea for those who don't know anything about managing a server.

Have to agree here. All the blaming of Amerinoc here is like blaming the tires when the driveshaft hits the pavement.

Another cyber crime network was taken out in the last couple days in Holland as well.
Shitbirds must be bullshit about it.

From what I read, what happened to Amerinoc can happen to anyone... So, if you move your entire portfolio elsewhere, it might happen on that other provider.

Anyway, I highly recommend Mojohost

It's pretty tough if you don't have help. But I do. I do a lot of fixing myself and when stuff gets too complex, my bud is a Linux sys admin. So yeah. Not for everyone.

I first started with Hostgator then another popular hosting that you had to basically setup yourself. But they didn't like the tube sites so I didn't do well with them. I learned a lot from web host talk and Stack Exchange.
