:stop Turkish traffic and it's consequences

Enough is enough.

I already knew that 50% of my Turkish traffic used to be shitty and shady by continuously asking for charge-backs on every affiliate of mine.

I could deal with it, as long as it was a sporadic event.

Today I checked my historical stats and I found out that my main camsite's affiliate got 71 premium signups from Turkey whom spent a total of $315,72 in a whole 2 years span !!!

Guys, think about it. A $315,72 grand total divided by 71 is an average of $4,5 per user in a whole 2 years time frame !!! Not even the poorest of the poorest would spend such a miserable amount in 24 months.

But here comes the weirdest absurdity: on a total of $315,72 they charged back for $262,12 !!!

They were able to get back over 83% of their miserable coins they presumably spent for no more than few seconds of a cam show.

So I made a decision: I packed a powerful ruleset for Cloudflare's firewall and I banned the whole Turkish country from all of my tubes, white labels, galleries and cam sites for a total of 312 domains.

Sorry Turkish people, you're not welcome anymore.

I highly suggest you to do the same unless you want to get in trouble with your affiliate accounts!

I'd love to visit Turkey one day. just I'm not great with long flights

aside from gorgeous architecture, Istanbul is all about the cats. really interesting history, well explained in the (very short) vid below

wow those stats though SevY. can totally understand your choice to geo-block

Just a little update about the Turkish geo-blocking.

As soon as I banned Turkey, my global traffic grew of a 20% to 30% so that I'm probably having the most productive day of the month considering I already got $874,63 in sales within last 12 hours.

It could be a totally unrelated reason or a simple randomness.

However I think it's related to the faster streaming of my content, since Turkish traffic used to burn almost 9,8% of my infrastructure's bandwidth.

Just to clarify: I have nothing against Turkish culture, but spending money in infrastructure to funnel users to buy and then do 100% chargebacks has never been my business model.

I simply can't deal with that.

Rather than just flat-out blocking the traffic, are you at least redirecting it somewhere to get paid on a PPC basis?

Sedo landing pages used to be where I'd send my shitty traffic back in the day, just register a domain, park it up and make bank by redirecting...

well, the main problem with TR GEO, is the that like 80% of traffic is simply does not reach the server
also, i was talking with some TR related offer guys, who told me that most of the payments are not passing trough and get stuck on the way

Of course!

I'd never waste traffic, even if it is shitty as the tuskish one.

I use Namesilo's so when I login to get a new domain I can happen to already have enough credit from my parked ones.

However, getting deep into analytics I've found Turkey to be the second highest ad-blocking country right after India...

I'd expect US/CA/EU/AU countries to be picky about ads, but it turns out 3rd world countries are way fussier than rich ones.

Curious, isn't it?

Have no clue why even shitty traffic is important?

Cuz you can always monetize it with PPC.

You can simply block entire countries with Cloudfare WAF, without having to put anything additional in your firewall.

My point is to redirect traffic instead of simply blocking it.

I used the redirect rules instead:

Porn is illegal in Turkey. ISPs block urls identified as porn. So chances are most of our sites are buggy as hell to them even IF they can load our site
