SEO or No?

I know the question has a lot of grey area, but its the main point.

My sites get a ton of referral traffic from other sites and social media, but its been 3 years full of onsite seo and it hasn't really been of any benefit yet. These sites are pretty big niches, so i know i dont have the time or resources to go toe-toe with the big dogs.

My question... In your opinion should I just stop trying to SEO every post and just focus on delivering content? If i do that, then i can easily delivery 10X more content as the SEO portion is what takes time.. (descriptive titles, descriptions, meta data, etc). If i go for just straight content i will post it, assign a title, done. Can start linking to it from other sources quickly.

I have expanded from 1 site to 4 in the past 6 months and my time allowed has shrunk, so i feel like having to SEO everything makes it so that i never get anything done.

On the flipside.. i know i could keep going with seo content and then in the future something could change with google and they may love me. If i don't.. they won't. Double edged sword i guess.

Thanks.

if you google pretty much any porn-related keyword, 98% of what comes up is tube sites and tube site aggregators. Because regardless of backlink profile or on-page seo, they have the best user engagement, because they give users exactly what they want--tons of free videos.

So if your site isn't a tube or aggregator and you already know you can't compete, maybe SEO isn't worth the time. I certainly wouldn't be paying for backlinks in your situation.

That said it would be pretty stupid not to at least have good titles and H1 tags. But you can skip meta description and meta keywords because google doesn't care about those anyway.

It isn't a tube site. Its for the most part a TGP where i hand pick everything and link in from lots of social media pages. I don't just connect into a feed and show a bunch of the same stuff everybody else does.

So maybe a title and onpage description is all i need. One of the things i do is assign lots of tags to each gallery that is utilized by my onsite search engine to allow people to narrow down what they want to see. Maybe there is no point in going that far and saving myself the time : )

I always tried to make it quality over quantity first to make it a good experience, but if that good experience makes it so that there is never any new content... defeats the purpose i guess.

Fully agreed with that. Build a site for users not search engines.

True true... Users don't give a shit about sappy descriptions describing the gallery : ) A search engine on the website itself can definitely increase user engagement. So maybe i will skip the sappy descriptions that take me forever to come up with, but still use my search engine tags.

Seo is still effective just use it wisely. There is no need to Seo every post, but definitely it's time for new content! Good luck

Thing is...google and other SE needs a content to rank your site. Google spider is not a human being who is going to come and watch your porn and then rate it. It needs words, alt descriptions, rich snippets. It is possible to manipulate it because all it does is calculating word density, back links, what neighborhood those links are coming from and how frequently your site is updated. Maybe add an erotic story to the site? Aggregate some content, spin it and post it, give those spiders some 'food for thought'. Oh, and get you a good link building software and a windows server to run it 24/7.

I like to blame SEO for a lot of things. At the end of the day, it's just you. And how you're screwing everything up.
