It could be indeed a overkill of pops for desktop. I noticed you don't do that much with mobile yet. I think there are many opportunities to monetize your mobile traffic. I see your website is mobile optimized, (thumbs up) You could consider in video banner, nice top and buttom banner etc, there many more ways to make money here.
