Affilate Manger advises spamming Craigslist and others is ok ?!?

A very popular classifieds site for Personals is getting hundreds of spam listings daily. Kind of ewhore ads saying stuff along the lines of " I am a lonely MILF, husband away - click here to get my phone number" and " Horny teen - need to get laid, click here to get my Facebook ID" but all links go to an offer from a BIG ( Major Player ) and well known company in the adult dating world.

When I discussed this with an Affiliate Manager he advised it is not spam - it is a legal form of advertising ( regardless that the classifieds site itself says not allowed. )

Further, he said you can do this on Craigslist and similar sites - it is ok to promote this way.

Or did I just get told a load of garbage ?

The post isn't to out the company, unless they lied to me and I will lose my shit.
As well, any affiliate doing this and making bank isn't going to say go for it.

So I am more interested in dating company representatives on GFY confirming or denying if it is or isn't considered spam by their companies. If it is OK - then it opens up another revenue stream I guess. Again, the answer given above was from a MAJOR dating company, who wouldn't just make stuff up ( I assume ) in a very clear email reply.

The site I refer to in my original post isn't Craigslist or Backpage but a global site with lots of traffic - and you can make bank with adwords advertising or paid banner advertising allowed on the site - and also allows free postings that you can put links on but they clearly say no spam allowed on our site - well not hundreds of 'ewhore' type of listings a day, every fucking day anyway.

Considering how much Skype and email dating site Spam I get I wouldn't be surprised by dating sites' tactic approval of this ... Anyway, bump for an answer ...

You must understand - owners rarely care about legal stuff until they are caught. For the most part - if anything is available they'll use it if it's free as long as a sale comes from it.

Those who are employee's who don't like it - they can leave. I've seen people fired for less - so I'm not agreeing with the tactic - just a lesson about top level decision making. Make money and next year make more money and cut the bottom expenditures out - oh - but save my first class flight and the best room as the casino in Vegas for me. Doesn't add up but it's reality

Fortunately you don't speak for the industry as a whole.

The kind of business that doesn't care about legalities, or fires employees who ask questions, is a business no employee wants to work for and is a business that won't be around long.

Employees that work for this kind of company should run away now! This is the kind of company that will have employees do things that the employee doesn't know are illegal and could put the employee in jail and be held personally financially liable. This kind of company throws the employee under the bus first chance.

Regarding OP's question, if a site is getting hundreds of spams daily, in a concentrated area, the site will be useless for its original purpose, so the site will be fighting that spam hard and blocking/ghosting submitters. If you're posting a lot of spam, and see it, you're likely ghosted and don't know it. Nobody likes spam and any platform worth anything will fight it so use it sparingly as if you were an advertiser, not spammer.

The company advises on their site :

WE DO NOT TOLERATE SPAM OF ANY SORT! IF YOU SPAM YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE TERMINATED AND YOU WILL NOT BE PAID!

I was told SPAM is considered to be electronic junk mail only.
Anything else eg hundreds of "ewhore" type of classifieds listing are NOT spam even when they are against the site's ( where they appear ) Terms of Use - clearly saying don't spam us and that they have to manually delete daily only to be flooded again next day.

I was told that ewhore classifieds listings are a "legal promotional method utilized by thousands of affiliates around the world."

But I can't assume he can talk for the whole industry.

So I just wanted to hear from other dating companies as to what is and isn't considered spam, when a dating offers company says don't spam. That's what I am simply asking ?

Or do you just ignore any fine print and as long as you can make bank they don't give a fuck what method you use ?

at some point in time, like 10 years ago the US was putting spammers in prison for years, sometimes decades for what no one seems to care about anymore. terrible for those guys.

Are you some kind of troll that doesn't like money?

Ten years ago I made thousands per month by automating a script that posted teen revenue girls to newsgroups. Sure, the die hard purist newsgroup owners thought I was spamming, but dozens of people per day would sign up. They didn't think it was spamming. They thought it was a god send on finding barely legal porn.

Many companies didn't allow my traffic and sided with the newsgroup operators. But many did enjoy my traffic and together we made lots of money and took otherwise free people and turned them into paying customers.

If it doesn't work with your gut or your conscience, try other methods. Otherwise make some ads and count the money. Though you will need to automate in order to make any kind of real money with the method you are describing. Like hundreds of ads in hundreds of localities.

what individual companies put on public pages is very different to what they personally tell you is acceptable traffic. What you mention isn't illegal, and if the program says "we'll take that traffic" I'm at a bit of a loss as to why this thread was made.

Who gives a fuck what a sites terms of use are... automate, spam the shit out of it, and churn & burn your way to more $$$

And who they will ban and not pay. Endless threads here from affiliates fucked over by programs for breaking their TOS when an employee told them it was ok.

The program keeps the affiliates money, it's a win/win for the program.

Of course there are always exceptions to the rule and I would never suggest that it is the way every business is run. I've been in the industry for over 25 years so this I know is true. I applaud those who keep their business ethics high and professional - but your observation is correct - not everyone.

I don't deal with the dating sponsor who told me that. I contacted them to say that the site I work with is getting murdered by spam daily and they would like it to stop. Then came the explanation that this isn't spam, so I would rather post on here for clarification from you all, rather than embarass the dating sponsors I have worked with for years and ask can I do this too.

It's done manually. Bad English - the spammed domains that redirect to offers have all been all registered in Bangladesh. It would have to be a team - on average, 200 - 300 spam ewhore listings in many cities daily. Deleted by site at night only for it to start again next day.

The listings are ( crap text ) + URL shortener going to a junk registered URL eg (something ).xyz going to an offer.

Adding to that, 2 of the dating companies I have worked with and who are also being spammed have shut me down for complaining. Not closed account but refuse to talk to me by email or Skype anymore - for weeks. Funny enough, one made contact by Skype, after this thread only to clarify who it was I was referring to my first post in this thread.

My conclusion - the affiliate doing this is making serious $$$ and they will not shut them down, no matter what proof I offer, but they will stop talking to me.
