It IS about 9/11. Not oil

What do these countries have in common?

Afghanistan
Iraq
North Korea
Iran

The axis of evil + 1. Two down, one to go. Oil? Nope! These nations are either state supporters of terrorism and/or non-proliferation violaters.

When the North Korean situation comes to a head, no one will be able to say "No blood for oil!". What will the new rallying cry be? I suppose someone will come up with something clever and the band of merry bandwagon followers will once again jump on the rickety old vehicle all the while thinking they are high-minded independent thinkers and that only they are wise enough to see "the truth".

Hell, NK doesn't even have enough oil for itself. It imports about 95% of it's oil.

9/11 was a wake up call. I think only the most hardline right-wingers in the US see a direct connection between Osama and Saddam. Saddam's regime was a state sponsor of terror though. The possibility of combining a state's ability to create chemical, biological or nuclear weapons with a terrorist organization's ability to deliver them - possibly even anonymously - without presenting an easy retaliation target has changed the global non-proliferation game.

The UN is meeting this week on the "North Korean Nuclear Crisis". The US is serious about non-proliferation. It's about time.

Cheers! Good post.

I'd like to add that Iraqi oil was a direct source of Saddam's influence. When he decided to "boycott" the American dollar and sell his oil in euros, a lot of other middle eastern countries took notice. The dollar suffered because of this.

If we wanted to 'control' their oil fields, as so many of you will have it believed, there was NO better excuse to do so than 9/11.

Colin, every Muslim nation is a sponsor of terrorisim. Let's be real about this. We could go a little further and name other non-muslim nations that have supported terrorisim and are willing to fund a bomb up our asses right now.

I say we just drop a bomb on Korea and call it a day.
