As I warned b4 Republicans are now making the move to sell public land

https://www.theguardian.com/environm...ement-chaffetz

This is what Republicans do for the people. They sell off our land for pennies and the tax payer gets shit.. 3.3 million acres of BLM land will be sold.

This is land that serves a lot of purposes. It's used by hunters, fishermen, campers, hikers and various outdoor uses some is leased for oil /gas drilling. Not to mention these large tracks of land are safe havens for endless amounts of wildlife.

“Last I checked, hunters and fishermen were taxpayers,” said Amaro, who lives in a New Mexico county where 70,000 acres of federal lands are singled out. In total, his state, which sees $650m in economic activity from hunting and fishing, stands to lose 800,000 acres of BLM land, or more than the state of Rhode Island.

“That word ‘disposal’ is scary. It’s not ‘disposable’ for an outdoorsman,” he said.

Republicans just want to gut the entire country so their big business benefactors can save a few tax dollars. We need to take some of them and drop them in the middle of that 800k acres and let them get lost forever..

Trumpets don't care. They will lose everything before admitting they made a mistake.

You live in an affected state.. you will be losing BLM land in your state if this happens..

The 10 states affected are Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. Residents can see how much acreage is earmarked for “disposal” in their counties by checking a PDF on Chaffetz’s website.

btw this fuck head who is pushing this bill has value estimate on the land as $30-50/acre. This guy should be shot.

There's lots of land in the US worth -$0 most of which is in those states. In fact some of them would pay you to take it.

In addition, democrats have been handing off national landmarks to the UN for decades which most people in the US aren't aware of..

Bullshit, not to mention this land brings in revenue for the states & the local communities.

13 Places to Find FREE Land for Homesteading in the US

Here are some places where you can get land for free.

You are aware most of the US is "free" land settlements right?

The federal government can't technically give it away now but they really don't need to be the owners of so much land.. $50 an acre for a bunch or desert and rock sounds good to me. Who knows, someone might be more productive with it. I'm sure the states can buy it themselves.

Crockett.

Why have you suddenly woken up that politicians have been exploiting you for their own gain?

But rest easy.

U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz says he no longer wants to sell off public lands in Colorado, other states

You scared him into doing a U-turn.

I'm not saying I agree with this sale overall, but I'm curious if you even read this based on how you are presenting it? The report was initiated by the Clinton administration in 1997. Were you up in arms over this back then?

"The acreage identified is drawn from a 1997 survey conducted by the Clinton administration, which sought to identify potential offsets to revive the Florida Everglades after decades of pollution from the sugar cane industry.

The actual language of the 1997 survey, which did not result in land being sold, prefaced its findings with a caution: ?Please note many lands identified appear to have conflicts which may preclude them from being considered for disposal or exchange.?

BLM was doing massive land grabs under Obama.

It has been a long running theory that they are using the resources on this land (or even the land itself) as collateral for the national debt.

I believe our government has been selling off land for some time now, very quietly. It doesn't matter who is in office. The reality of this is the US government owns A LOT of land, more so out west. Something like 87% of Nevada is owned is owned by the US government. It costs us a ton of money to maintain and patrol that land....

Yes, I did read it and the Clinton admin was hounded over it and and they decided it was not worth selling the land to pay for the everglades clean up. Obviously it wasn't sold..

I've been posting about this since Republicans 1st started making the grumbles of selling BLM/National Park lands. I think my 1st post on this matter was over a year ago, maybe even 2 years (I forget how long this has been going on TBH).. When ever it first came to light they were trying to do it. I was laughed at by GFY right wingers claiming they'd never do that.. Now they are trying to do it..

Don't try to "invent" facts to make yourself sound like you know what you are talking about..

I've also made many posts about Republicans trying to end net neutrality those posts go back several years.. Now they finally have the power to do it and are once again stepping up pace to try it.

BTW just because he says he wont do it, doesn't mean he wont try it again when they think no one is looking. We've seen the same strategy play out time and time again with net neutrality. The people of this country have spoken out on that issue many times and stopped Republicans plans each time. Each time Republican ignore the people's voice and repackage it and try to push it again. This was not the 1st attempt of Republicans to push this agenda of selling the land.. They will try again. They don't care what the people say, this is why I'm anti-Republican but don't make the mistake of thinking that because I'm anti-Republican that I'm 100% pro-Democrat..

Actually the voters in those states scared him when they told the congressmen that they wanted their public land for hunting, fishing camping etc... in huge majorities. People with guns tend to get their way

It seems the Republicans didn't think if there are no public lands to be hunted on, perhaps hunters will have to start targeting them..
