Hosting Plan For Tube
Hi All,
I'm considering launching a tube site with 100% hosted videos for SEO benefits. Is anyone able to recommend how much storage space I would require for 100K hosted videos and which company / plan would be the most cost effective? Cheers. |

To work this out you just need to know the average length of the videos, what bitrate you are encoding them to, and whether you are going to provide different download sizes (different bitrates).
Example: if your videos are an average of 12 minutes, and you encode to an average 600Kb/s, that will give you a file size of (12 x 60 x 600) / 8 = 54000Kb or about 53Mb. If you want to store 100k of those, you'll need about 5175Tb. That's without offering different video sizes.

HostRipples really have great hosting for tubes sites on a shared hosting and you won't have to pay premium price of a dedicated server...Im using them since 6 month and their support is also great! They have 500gb and 1000gb bandwith per month plan for tubes site...Ive looked around a lot and they really seem to be the best for tubes ...

Depends on your pricing point and level of technical expertise. In order of cost efficiency:
1) Cloud providers / VPS 2) Managed Dedicated 3) Unmanaged Dedicated 4) Colo OVH has an object store that is decently priced and you don't have to worry about scaling. They just charge you per GB stored and GB transferred. |
