More possible fraud on Amazon ???

Im sure some of you guys know this but just in case ill lay this out for you to comment:

I am in the market for a new Tig welder and was browsing Amazon for a good deal. I wanted the Miller Dynasty 280 DX TIG Welder 907551 At $13,000 i wanted a better deal. I saw the list of other sellers and saw a price of $499.00 ( yes a $12,500 discount?)

Too good to be true, must be for parts or damaged, maybe even refurbished. The ( NEW) seller asks that you contact them before purchase, which i did from a G-mail account and they replied it's brand new in a sealed box. But here's where the strange stuff starts, the guy asked for my phone number, full name, shipping address. I replied with "why can i not go through Amazon" and received no reply.

Now i didn't send any info but some less suspicious people may do just that. To me this is a new scam and i am seeing it more and more on Amazon, all new sellers with zero feedback praying on old folks and unsuspecting buyers. I have made a # of reports to Amazon about this but this guy/girl/team seems to be popping up all over Amazon! So if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is

Report them to Amazon. It's against Amazon's TOS for sellers to try to avoid Amazon's selling platform to make a sale. It's ok to send packing slips with your website/Phone # ect.. with whatever you sell but it's not ok to try to bypass Amazon while making a sale from Amazon.

This is a seller account trying to scam you. Not anyone from Amazon if you buy from them like this you will have zero recourse through Amazon.

How long has this reseller been selling on Amazon?

They are all just launched sellers, I just found 23 more like this under treadmills $2000 machines for $499.00 seems to be a magic #. I did a search online and found that this is old news and has been going on for a couple of years. Amazon it seems doesn't care too much, according to reports on Forbes

I have reported every instance i have noticed, but never received a reply from Amazon,
which i find strange. I love the convenience of shopping online and Amazon is one of the best, but this is becoming an epidemic. I spend many thousands a month with them for my remodels and my business so i sure hope they get this handled soon. It slows down the process of buying online and all the fake reviews don't help.

This is why its best to buy from the Amazon fulfilled sellers as the likelihood of fraud is less and getting a resolution to issues is quicker. Its why i stopped buying stuff from China on Amazon. Prices are great but 50% of the items never get delivered. I know I'm covered by Amazons A-Z policy but its still a hassle

I am in some computer groups for Alienware and Microsoft Surface, and people will contact me on Facebook asking if I want to "promo price" if I give them a good review.

The OP's scenario sounds like a blatant fraudulent "vendor" stay away.

I love Amazon and buy there at least twice a month. I've started buying groceries on Amazon via Amazon fresh, very cool!

In all my years with Amazon I've only had big issues with a seller twice and each time was a nightmare with returning the merchandise. I've only returned stuff maybe 5-10 times. I usually just eat it and chalk it up to experience.

The last issue I had was with a mannequin I bought for my studio, I've bought a couple before with no issues.

This mannequin came with hands from a foreign vendor that wouldn't attach to the arms. I rarely give reviews on Amazon, maybe once or twice a year or if I really like something or was really disappointed. It was a two month process with this seller of back and forth, new hands being sent that were wrong, then trying to get me to jerryrig it, etc. I finally gave up and sent it back on principle, paying $129 in shipping ( do you know how hard it is to find a box that fits a mannequin?) and when received they lied and said it was damaged. I was so angry I gave them a scathing review.

Always go through Amazon when buying through them as I've heard nightmare stories of the majority of their vendors being dodgy flakes when dealing direct.

No thanks i can get one on Amazon for $499.00 free shipping.

Joking aside i just spent 30 minutes on the phone to Amazons Sellers, Fraud Department. Which from their accents is located in Bombay India, i don't hold out much hope that they will investigate. Fuck them, i did my best to help but they seem not to care. As long as i don't get ripped off i will leave this one alone from now on!!!

Jeff Bozos doesn't need the money, he is worth a conservative 75 billion

He added $1.5 billion to his net worth after Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) gained $9 billion in market value during trading hours Wednesday.Mar 29, 2017

When you ask for an associate in America Monday-Friday they have to transfer you per company policy, they'll ask for your info etc. then transfer you.

This is a very common issue recently.
Beyond this situation there are thousands of accounts being opened daily with bots I'm sure that will auto load thousands of top selling products to their accounts for sale at a discount with longer than normal shipping times.
They will get the orders, confirm shipment with fake tracking numbers which is what triggers Amazon to add the funds to your payout.
They wait the 2 weeks or so for the payout and if they get paid they win and all the unsuspecting buyers of those everyday products lose.

so what? you are still protected with paypal and basically it's the same protection, ebay takes 10% cut so if you get a %5 discount and the seller get %5 extra whats wrong with it?

also even if you buy $500 worth of air from amazon you can get a refund straight away.

All true but in the end someone has to pay for all this fraud and you can be sure it won't be e-bay or Amazon, it will be the customers.

Very true. Losses are part of the price you pay for goods and this includes interest rates on credit cards and loans.

Every page has a " Report incorrect product information."

Its funny but after spending about 4 hours of my time yesterday trying to help Amazon i went back today to buy the Miller Tig Welder and low and behold there are even more sellers offering this $13000 unit for $400. So they terminate one sellers name and two more pop up in its place It hasn't effected me, in other words i haven't fallen for this scam but some people might ?

I would have left it at the form -- I made notice on them -- the ball is in their court I guess.

Do you have a link to this product page -- post it. Google may index it ;)

Yes i do and many others, trouble is its in constant state of flux. In other words i go to the page and the fraudulent seller is there, five minutes later i can go back to the same page and her/she is gone.

here is an example for a treadmill i just found, look down the page to see sellers asking for you to contact them directly.

Just check the prime or free shipping boxes -- the junk is gone.
If something is priced 10% to 25% of the fair price and not shipped by Amazon further the seller unreviewed -- why would you risk buying it?

Common sense should play a role too.

Agreed, but sadly money does not come with instructions.
