How to remove subdomains from Google search results?
I have a domain, on which I used subdomains for translated versions of the site but I no longer use these subdomains. Subdomains still appear in search results, though. How do I request a removal? I tried to request Remove URLs but it won't let me request urls from subdomains. Do I have to add each subdomain to Search Console and request removal? I have also tried crawl and fetch as Google but that did not work. I still see the results with the subdomains, which are no longer being used, when I search in Google for the base url of the domain. Very strange. Advice on this will be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you should verify subdomains. After that removal process will be easy.

I have got another idea. Will wildcard Disallow from robots.txt on main domain work? Has anyone tried this? Something like this:
User-agent: * Disallow: *.domain.tld Also added 301 redirect in nginx config like so: server{ listen XX.XX.XX.XX:80; server_name *.domain.tld; return 301 http://domain.tld$request_uri; } Hope Google is smart enough. Has anyone had any similar experience? Care to share how it worked for them? Thank you! |

Already did the redirect but subdomains do not disappear from search results. Maybe I have to add them each one by one and request removal. Tried with some subdomains and they disappeared from search results but the rest, which are actually redirected, still appear. Will wait to see when they will disappear because they are 301 redirected.

ok....for First go to google webmasters and then give a request to remove the subdomain url to remove. and Second put a disallow in robots.txt for the subdomain so this surely will help as what u require.

Yes. Looks like I have to add them all one by one and remove manually. Redirect does not remove them. Only redirects and most probably it will eventually remove them, but... Slowly. Thanks!
