scary things happen in this world & seems when people are down they can feel like taking their own lives, even when they have so much to live for...

a great shame for this young man to take his life, but sadly not enough people were around for him when he needed the help that should be provided. Friendship, love & support is important for us all in life

He timed his suicide with the 53rd birthday of Chris Cornell. They were friends, now both gone. Sad story.

I read that today, too. He had plans and appointments set up. The symbolism of the date hasn't been delved into yet.

Successful career, big $$$$$, nine kids, apparently happy marriage, great future ahead... your mind goes to substance abuse yet unless a note was left/found, we'll never know the truth.

I had a friend who tried killing himself three times. Each seemed to be half-hearted. Drug overdose but only ten Ativan. Car crashed into a wall but his air bag deployed. Swum out deep in the ocean, in an area full of boats and swimmers going to the small man-made island. Finally, he bought a gun. Shot himself in the foot, right side chest, then in the head. He survived but with brain damage. Can't speak or communicate and he's in the state hospital for behavioral problems. His parents pay $1.5 million a year to house and treat him.

I last saw him about twenty-seven years ago. He lies there, unmoving, eyes not focused, and doesn't seem to recognize anyone. I asked his sister why they kept him alive when he's in living hell. "My parents hope for a miracle. Daddy sold all his investments including all the beach estates for $75 million. With interest he said there is coverage for life."

I inquired about him and he's still alive, still in the hospital, his parents are under home care, sister moved to Paris and he's in custodial care.

Oh, the reason he tried suicide? He was gay and afraid to disappoint his parents. Suicide was the one way out. His parents knew he was gay and obviously it didn't deter them from spending big bucks to help him.

I can't imagine the internal pain he went through to decide to die rather than disappoint his parents

Earlier this year i visited the doctor because i needed some sort of medication because i had so much shit (and still have) going on at once.

He asked if i ever had suicidle thoughts. And i said yes.

He put me on to a councillor and i still go once per week. It's an hour to just tell someone who won't judge me all my problems and listen to whatever advice they can give.

Does it work ? Maybe. But at least it is seeking some sort of help before making any life threatening decisions.

As it is just now, i know my purpose for being here is to care for my sick mum. If i wasn't here, i doubt she would be either.

Once she goes, i will find it tough beyond anything i could imagine but i will need to find the strength.

I have other shit going on just now which has been put to the side for now, but it hasn't gone anyway by any matter of means. It's been on going for 3 years now.

This with everything else is what led to that doc appointment. But some people don't get that far or look for that help and this can sometimes be the end result.

I don't have kids and have no intention of ever having kids, so i guess that is the only good thing i won't ever have to worry about, whatever the future holds...

Easy to call someone a loser when your mind is functioning correctly. Throw a little chemical imbalance/trauma etc... in and decisions aren't as easily made or clear cut for the dude.
