California health insurance plans to rise 13% for 2018

The slow, painful march towards 50% of your income going to taxes continues. Hopefully you californians enjoy subsidizing the care of all those beaners you let in.

Covered California premiums to rise 12.5 percent in 2018

In 2017, average rates jumped 13.2 percent ? a dramatic uptick compared to the modest 4 percent premiums increases in 2016 and 2015. The rates released on Tuesday are preliminary and must still receive final approval from state insurance regulators.

Forcing all Americans to buy Insurance is total BS.

I was in the US for 6 months last year. It would have been impractical for me to buy insurance for just those 6 months. Instead, guess what happened? I got fined $300.

Fuck that shit.

I'm currently in a country where the cost of health care is so inexpensive, I can pay for it in cash.

Last teeth cleaning I got ended up being ~$20. That would have been my copay in the US. And that's with no insurance!

Sorry, this on Trump.

I have Kaiser here in California; I've had Kaiser for years now, long before Obamacare. For the three of us, Kaiser costs us $1900 a month. With Obamacare, Kaiser now costs us $200 a month.

At this point, this is now owned by the Trump administration. The Trump administration is doing everything they can to repeal Obamacare. Instead of doing his job and fixing the problems, he is using our healthcare as a bargaining chip in order to get his way... This is insane. Trump isn't interested in healthcare for Americans but instead is only interested in being able to "win" at something.

Trump is power now. Whatever happens is his fault. Period.

The dental industry in the US is a racket. The schools graduate only a certain number of professionals each year so that the supply barely meets demand and consumer costs remain high. Orthodontics are the worst. They keep the supply of pros so low that it will always cost thousands.

Yea, it's Trump's fault that what everyone knew all along, that Obamacare will implode within a few years, is finally happening. You guys are amusing.

Of course it is; even if it was predicted.

I bet the record high stock market has nothing to do with him though.

Im not sure how many times i have to spell this out but with Chump in power medical bills will be going much higher, he is not addressing the root of the issue.

Take Humana:-

Humanas profit up 43% as Medicare Advantage unit soars

Humana's third-quarter profit soared 43.3% on better-than-expected earnings from its Medicare plans.

The Louisville, Ky.-based insurer said its individual Medicare Advantage business line improved over the quarter because of fewer claims.

But overall earnings were offset by the loss of a large group Medicare Advantage account that moved to a private exchange at the start of the year, as well as a decline in premium revenue from fewer individual commercial plan members.

Humana's Medicare premium revenue grew 4.2% to $10.05 billion in the three months ending Sept. 30 from $9.64 billion in the same period last year. And individual Medicare Advantage membership ticked up by 3.5% year over year to 2.8 million members as of Sept. 30.

These companies as well as Hospitals and Pharmaceutical companies are raping Americans. The only way i see this changing is if government steps in to regulate the extortionate practices of these companies.

Heres another company making billions while Americans die while not being able to afford health care.

Membership gains in Medicare and Medicaid bolstered Aetna's third-quarter earnings, despite pressures stemming from its public exchange business. Aetna also stressed Thursday that it remains confident its multibillion-dollar merger with rival insurer Humana will close in 2017.

Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna's third-quarter net income jumped 7.8% to $603.9 million compared with the same period in 2015, and revenue was up by 5.5% year over year, totaling $15.78 billion.

The nation's third-largest insurer grew membership in Medicare and Medicaid by 97,000 members, partially offset by membership losses in its commercial segment.

?The performance on our Medicare business continues to be very strong,? Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini said Thursday during a conference call with analysts.

Aetna's total medical membership grew by 143,000 members in the last three months to 23.1 million members. Medicare Advantage and Medicare supplement membership totaled 2.03 million as of Sept. 30. Medicaid membership grew to 2.4 million members, up 47,000 members over the last three months.

Medicare premium revenue grew by more than 17% year over year, while Medicaid premium revenue jumped 13%, Bertolini said.

Chump isnt doing anything to fix healthcare

talks about letting obama care implode and not paying insurance subsidies cause the insurance companies to react negatively....raising rates at a greater % and leaving pools

has done nothing to cut costs

but keep blaming the ex president

Chump has only done things to help big money and nothing for the working man/woman

So should I blame Obama or Trump when Australian medical insurance raise's 5% every year for the past 20 and no doubt the next 20 years?

And have you ever thought.. that if they are going up all around the world then no matter who is in power in the USA they would of gone up regardless.

Or is that beyond comprehension for you?

Get over it. The US healthcare system puts patients down the list of priorities.

If it makes anyone feel any better it's looking like all they are going to do is bailout the insurance companies.

"U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander on Tuesday made the first move by a senior Republican to work with Democrats on repairing Obamacare after his party failed to repeal and replace the healthcare law, announcing work on bipartisan legislation to stabilize the individual health insurance market."

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-u...-idUSKBN1AH5AO

Key word there is "stabilize" = funding to the insurance companies
Lamar Alexander may as well have health care industry written on his forehead.

Funny story about him. 20 something odd years ago they were considering running him as President. I worked in a restaurant at an upscale hotel here in town and one night a group of suits sat at my table. At some point during their discussion they asked me "What would you think about Lamar Alexander as President?" I said, who? The whole table seemed stunned I had no idea who he was. He may have very well been one of them, I have no idea. Hell I might have changed the course of history that night.

Kaiser has long been considered a "budget" hospital and insurance system. There's a long line of cases showing their forced arbitration system was nothing but a dog and pony show to keep costs down. If your premiums really went down $1,200/month - who's making up the sudden difference? Do you really think Obamacare fixed your insurance? You must be subsidized in some way. Either that, or you switched to a plan with a huge deductible.
