Best way to clean this ipod touch 4g connector? - GoFuckYourself.com

Yes, I KNOW its filthy, but its been left to rot for a good few years!

So, before I wipe down and clean all around it, whats the best way to clean the actual dock pins that go into the bottom of the ipod?

I've looked online but it all seems to be about cleaning the port at the bottom of the device and not the bit that goes into it.

As it stands, the clock / radio recognises that an ipod has been connected to the dock, but the problem is it wont CHARGE the ipod. As I have no longer have a usb charging cable, I have no other way to charge the ipod, so I'm hoping this old clock / radio dock will charge the ipod if I can get it clean...

Suggestions for cleaning please? Household objects etc preferred? Would a good wipe with nail varnish remover do the trick? HELP PLEASE

I would use peroxide before I would use nail polish remover.

A q-tip for the outside and maybe try and see if you can get the corner of a paper towel inside for the connections.

Actually thanks for this reply, cause it lead me to a search that suggested 'contact cleaner' (as I posted above) which I honestly had never heard of until now

I meant to say rubbing alcohol instead of peroxide.
