help - serious question

I seem to have a dead rodent in my HAVAC. I've tried to find it but have been unable to. Who do you call for this? Do you call the AC guy or pest control?

Hvac probably. Most likely have to remove duct work to find it. If you're not afraid to get dirty crawl up under the house and push up all your duct work and see if you can feel it. If so just remove that particular duct from the closest point, work it out and zip tie the duct back when done. If it is actually in your duct work though it got in there somehow so you're going to have to locate that as well. This is all assuming you have a crawl space. If the duct work is in the walls then someone is going to have to get a camera in your ducts.

HVAC tech will be expensive ,take a cover off and probe around a bit yourself. just turn the power off before servicing

this and failing this, the pest control. I would suggest it´s not up to your air con guys to deal with the pests

It is probably in your walls or attic. The HVAC is simply blowing the smell around the house.

Do you think the rodent is in your ventilation somewhere? If so, how about attaching a gopro to a long rod or one of those things used to fish wires through walls to try to find it?

Can you locate which part has the worst odors? My ducts were about forty feet in just the cellar. AC companies will say it?s not the ac having a problem so pest control is your best bet. They can run a camera down the ductwork and find it, then maybe locate sources of entrance. Could be a famiy still living there. Check for chewed holes, too. Leaks cost you $$$.

One of those cameras on the end of a fish line would be ideal. I don't know what they're actually called, but I've typically seen them used by sewer guys to inspect sewer lines. $250 an hour but it's the easiest way to explore your duct work without ripping walls apart. Maybe pest control would have them too and would be a bit cheaper.

I live in Northern California. We haven't used the heat or the AC in weeks.

I have a pest control guy coming out in the morning.

I'm a partner in a duct cleaning company in Baltimore and we get calls like this every week.
Cheaper than a HVAC guy.
