Previously if you had USD, EUR, GBP wallets you received those currencies to appropriate wallets.
At some point paypal changed this and now auto converts every incoming currency to your main currency.

Is t possible to get rid of this shady shit (they probably decided to collect their 3% conversion fees)?

Someone suggested that they introduced prechecked checkbox on sender's part to convert to receiver's currency.
Is that correct? Or is there some actual way to prevent this semi scam?

The sender has to set correctly what currency the other side will receive. You can't do anything about it on the receiving end as far as I know.

You mean they have PRECHECKED CHECKBOX that says receiver will receive it converted to his own currency?
Because senders usually do not even know your currency if you request payment in their currency (or the most popular USD).

Ps: not to repeat myself, this semi scam (to ripp off involuntary fees) was introduced pretty recently (maybe a year, no more than 2 years, I did not register when exactly).

3% of forced conversion one way and then 3% (if needed) conversion back is huge. Some people are happy to enjoy 3% YEARLY growth on their funds, so it should say how "little" it is.

And secondly - not wanting to get scammed (or FORCED converted when you don't need it) is not wanting to fuck pp over. It is not wanting to be fucked by pp.

But we all know things are 180 degree upside down in your mentally ill invented fantasy.

Ps: you must be getting paid 5 bucks if conversion would amount to only cents to you.

When the sender sends you money he now gets a window like this one below. By default PP will put your default currency under "recipients get". The sender must change it back to USD before clicking "send".

To be honest it is business so I do not really mind those rates for convenient conversion per se.

But forcing this is what is shady as fuck. Imagine you get money in certain currency and plan to send the same currency to someone else.
You get force converted + you convert back = double the conversion fees out of nowhere.
Shady as fuck.
