It was really small and quiet.

Heard a lot of people didn't make it because of cancelled flights on east coast.

Were rooms at the Tempe Mission Palms sold out this year? If yes, how long did it take to sell out?

For the first time that I ever remember, thEu had rooms available the week before as well as the day of. I’m sure several canceled because of the East Coast weather problems which seem to be around LOL. I honestly think that the show is losing its flare. They really need to change the location and the time of year. I think webmasters want to go to a fresh location every few years. It’s just been too long at the Tempe Mission Palms in the room prices are crazy for what you get. And the show isn’t the only one. I don’t need to travel to Europe everyone go to the same damn place and same damn hotel. They need to keep things fresh. I’ve been doing shows for 21 years now and they don’t industry and I’ve learned a lot about it and ya e spoken show several show operators.

Kudos to Kathi, Ron and their crew for putting on such a great show year after year. It needs some changes however, and I think the location is the number one change it needs.

Mitch

The event itself is worse. No Hooters which was the best for networking.

Less rooms/private parties. No models anymore. The dodgeball girls are hideous.

The closing night event's themes are absolutely terrible.

The great pool bar girl and the dude she used to work with (both are gone - fired? rumor the girl or guy got fired - or both - got fired for something due to event haha not sure)

The more fun people can't afford to go as the industry is mainly corporate now. The unique and fun personalities have been pushed out.

Most of my favorite spots in tempe have closed down too sadly.

If the person organizing it knew how much models/promo girls made an impact on the event, they'd actually put more of a budget towards that. Perhaps they overestimate guys. Less models/attractive promo girls, less attendees, less attendees, the more people see it dying and it just spirals. Men in porn are often guys that don't get alot of attention from pretty girls, it makes their trip. It also helps get people socializing

Show organizers were promoting hard on social media right beforehand, offering to waive registration fees for talent and affiliates both. So I knew they must be hurting on attendance or on filling their hotel block.

It was a LONG time ago that I went, and even when the affiliate money was rolling the expense was more vacation than justifiable for an affiliate. There’s not enough business upside from in-person networking to justify that hotel bill and those six dollar Fiji waters sitting there in the rooms with no price tags to fool rubes like me who think they are complimentary like the shampoo. 😀

It was extremely gay this year. Not that I have something against gay, just saying...

I guess it doesn't fit current business operations which is corporate indeed. Affiliates died out as a class. And the industry became tech driven. With tech you don't really have to go anywhere.

The city is good though

Not quite ... but the economics sure are different. I probably made more money from my affiliate links while I was AT the Phoenix Forum last time than I spent attending the show. It sure doesn't work like that now, LOL.

I hate I missed the last couple of years. After attending several years in a row I noticed the attendance seemed to dwindle down, and more people stayed off site because of the room prices. There aren't as many little guys. Only a few big players remain And with the decline in revenue it might not be possible for as many people to go. Nonetheless, I have some great memories of the show and venue. However, changing the location might generate some new interest and maybe make it less expensive for people wanting to attend and stay on site. And being on the gay side of the industry for nearly ten years I can say that it's one of the better events for gay studios and affiliates. So if you imagined a large gay presence, that's definitely the case. I always had a great time hanging with gay and straight peeps! ;-)

For us, TPF was great! We had a very good response from the people we met and many new confirmations for our 15th event in Montreal (sig) ... Attendance was lower than the usual TPF, but we still been able to meet pretty much everyone we wanted... (Except you Mitch, you were already in a meeting and we didn't wanted to interrupt, so we said that we'd see you later, unfortunately we didn't.. Skype ? )..

And as Mitch said, Kudos again to Ron, Kathi and team, they have to deal with many things that no one have control over and they have to roll with them at the event...

For what's it worth, from my show organizer POV, Every year you try different things, you work hard, travel a lot, spend $$$ to get these attendees and companies to come (old and new), but at the end, you can see the whole result at the event itself, Once a Year!

I actually printed that thread to read and re-read it... You talk, we listen...
