Canada wins vote to co-host 2026 FIFA World Cup with U.S and Mexico

The biggest and most popular sporting event on the planet is coming to Canada.

In a historic vote held in Moscow on Wednesday, the “United Bid” of Canada, Mexico and the United States beat out Morocco to win the right to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the first time that international soccer’s marquee event will touch down on Canadian soil.

The “United Bid” won the vote 134-65 over Morocco during a special congressional meeting where every single member nation of FIFA, excluding the four potential host countries, cast a ballot.

No is not coming to Canada is coming to

- Canada
- USA
- Mexio

the question is where the opening match will be. And where the finale will be. Probably no more than 10 -12 games will be in Canada.
Otherwise, at the women's world championship I saw games on artificial grass and roofed stadiums - no one will allow it at the World Cup.
stadiums in Canada have a small capacity - rght now Mexico is a best place, where there are stadiums for 80-90 thousand people.
anyway is a plenty work to do.

I think Toronto Host Fifa in 2007, so i would not be surprize they would choose Tdot again for few games.

Chris you know the Big O is gross!! I don't want to go to a game there, when I went for Club America vs the Impact I thought the stadium was going to collapse. Also now we got to sink more money into installing grass there as well? Closed air stadium in the middle of summer for soccer

It's amazing to see us compared to American Stadiums. I think someone did a breakdown of how Texas could host a world cup by itself.

It's pretty bad yes and could do with some fixing-up, but will Montreal spend the money to do it? And will people complain? Is the Big-O worth saving? I think it is event though I haven't been there in forever.

it's a cement hole.. i dread every year when the Jays play their last 2 spring training games there because not only is it falling apart it's also that old turf that nobody anywhere uses anymore. no idea how they would put grass in a indoor stadium either. they can't even do that with rogers centre and they spent a lot of money trying to figure it out

We have many high school stadiums that rival college/pro stadiums in Texas.

Denver would be a very rough choice. Very few of the athletes would be accustomed to that altitude. That would be very punishing in such an intense sport.

I'm looking forward to the games!

I would be open to us seriously looking into the option of expanding Stade Saputo to a size that would work for the World cup game, I don't know if by doing that it would be too expensive after for Saputo to maintain or keep it running but that's something I would be willing to put tax dollars into.

To put another dollar into the olympic stadium would really get me agitated. I went there for the Impact vs Club America game and it was just brutal, no charm seating was not intimate and I feared it's security. Again not to mention what an embarrassment it would be to host a world cup game indoors (I would be very against any proposal to fix the roof again)

What? No chance, I drove across the US and in the middle of Nebraska they had high school stadiums the size of where the Montreal Aloutettes play (CFL). In Texas where Football is church there is no high school in Canada comparable.

oh Totally my bad, I saw your blue boxy avatar and thought you were Brian Mike. That makes a bunch of sense.

As for Denver, some teams would struggle. The South American's would love it. They have to play against Bolivia which is 11,000 feet plus over double Mile high
