Namesilo - A little bit of bait and switch?
First, I like Namesilo. I have most of my domains there and have always been impressed with the simplicity of their setup.
With that said though, I have recently hit a couple of incidents of what, in my opinion, is bait and switch. I went and looked for a .webcam domain. It was available and Namesilo showed it on sale for $1.89. So, I added it to my cart. When I went to check out, that domain was in my cart at $517.00. I was like wtf? There was no indication that it was a premium domain, there was no reason to expect any price except $1.89 in my cart. There is a line under the checkboxes that ays "if it is a premium domain it will show as such in the cart." That is kind of a bullshit way to do it. imho of course. Luckily I looked before I went and paid. . |

I noticed that as well recently. It's quite misleading, they should fix their domain search and show the correct price on the results page. It seems it only checks if the domain is available but doesn't pull the actual price for certain domain extensions.

huh? I have all 20+ domains with them and my domains are the same as they were a few years ago. They give free id protect. The past places I had my domains went out of biz and new places jacked up prices to $20 per domain and all kinds of BS. Name Silo doesn't do that shit.
Yes, I see the issue here but I would hardly call that a click bait, more like a pricing tool not working correctly but no matter where or what I'm buying I check the prices are the same throughout the checkout.

But, what they are doing is a pretty scammy way to do it. It is not something broken. They have a note there, that I missed the first few times I was in there, saying: "The prices listed above are for non-premium domains. If you select a premium domain, the sale price will be shown once you add the domain to your cart." You have no idea if it is a premium domain before it goes into the cart. As I said, I missed the note several times. In fact I did not notice it until I was posting the gif I recorded. So, it appears that it is purposeful on their part. I sometimes, especially with vendors I trust, move through the checkout quickly and don't necessarily pay the attention I should. On Namesilo I will not be doing that anymore. They are still a good registrar, I think. . |

Point in case I've bought hundreds of things from Amazon but I still watch the prices and make sure I get my free prime shipping every time I order even a $10 product.

it has nothing to do with namesilo...prices for .webcam are usually as advertised...try regging qoeuqrpoqueqouoqur2oreu2.webcam and it will have a normal price...OP was trying to reg a dictionary word and the .webcam directory put up premium prices for it...
these new gtld-s do not have fixed pricing like .com-s...
