Michigans Republican Senate Guts Minimum Wage Hike, Paid Sick Leave Laws

Wow so GM closes it's Michigan plant and the Republican Congress guts minimum wage and paid sick leave.

Michigan will go blue in 2020!

"To prevent the citizen initiatives from going to voters earlier this month, where they would be much harder to change if voters had passed them, Republican legislators preemptively approved them in September so that they could alter them after the election with simple majority votes in each chamber."

“Gutting the One Fair Wage proposal after it was adopted is blatantly unconstitutional and will likely will lead to costly, time-consuming court challenges,” said Pete Vargas, campaign manager for the minimum wage ballot drive."

Projections: Michigan faces $279M to $348M surplus for 2018

"Michigan income tax and sales tax collections are higher than expected and should give lawmakers extra money for top priorities as they complete the state budget this summer, according to new projections."

The cities and towns those workers were redlined to are going to get even worse now (hard to believe that's possible) with all these jobs lost and wage/benefit guts.

It'll be blamed on other things tho... With magical stats and graphs to prove it.

As a small business owner if I were considering expanding the first states/cities I would cross off the list are those with these types of laws. I wouldn't even consider opening up shop in AU as MrBald has shown..

But Trump has given us the BEST economy EVER!

Evidently in the best economy ever multiple factories close down, hundreds of thousands lose their jobs, minimum wage stays lower in Michigan and the cost of living goes up by 5% a year while Fed interest rates clime to all time highs. #winning

This is exactly why illegal and to some extent legal migration has to be stemmed. With a great supply of labour at the lower end of the market businesses are able to keep the major costs, labour, down to the bear minimum. This is great if you're a boss but sucks for most of us. It's great for the economy, but sucks for most ordinary people.

Migration should be reduced, not for reasons of colour but reasons of skills or the ability to generate wealth.

That's because you are selfish and greedy and lack the ability to create a business which is capable of paying employees a living wage..

People like you are the reason illegals come to this country, because they know they can find some cheap ass like you who will hire them under the table because they are the only ones who would work for you..
