Russians are of course innocent in your opinion, right ? Blocking strait with tanker ship is legal of course, right ?
Not even talking about Crimea "referendum"....

It was only a matter of time. Did you really think Russia was going to stop with Crimea?

Putin knows Trump will do nothing.

Seriously - is anyone on here an expert in this conflict that isn't firmly on one side? To me, an ignorant American, Russia looks slightly worse, like the aggressor. Most people don't give a rats ass that a country had a claim to another area 100 years ago. The world was an entirely different place back then. Still, I'll admit I have only the most rudimentary view of the situation.

If this is allowed to continue, they will annex the region over the coming decade.
It is time for a very strong stand by all nations.

Stop playing tit for tat, you can't win that.

Ukraine did not invade Russian territory and fund rebels in Russia. Russia is 100% the provocateur..

Shit ! I must have confused my history lessons. My bad.....I guess it was the Ukrainian army which in 1783 chased the Ottoman Turks out of Crimea led then by the famous Ukrainian Empress Catherine the Great of Rus...oops of Ukraine. Then between 1853 to 56 it was not the Russians which waged the Crimean War against British and the French, but the always the powerful Ukrainians. Also in 1920 it was the "Red" Ukrainians who defeated Rus..oops Ukrainian general Wrangel's " White" Russ..oops again the Ukrainian anti Bolshevik troops loyal to the Romanoffs (a famous Ukrainian ruling family). And of course we must not forget the 170,000 Russ.(..another oopps) Ukrainian soldiers who died defending and the retaking Sevastopol in WW2 ( also called the City of Russian Glory , in 1941 and 1944 and soon likely renamed City of Ukrainian Glory) and to re learn this correct history of Crimea it was the famous Russian Nikita Chruschev ( maybe he was Ukrainian??) who in the mid 50ties "transfered" Crimea to Ukrainian SSR.

And there you have it. A new history is being written every day...just as History channel would make you believe it..

And yes "cry me a river"

And so what does any of that have to do with any signed treaties of agreements afterwards ? Nobody is trying to lock you up for crimes of your father here.

1944? That was 74 years ago - this is all ancient history. 45% (90) of the sovereign nations in existence weren't around then. The UN didn't exist. The World Court didn't exist. The Geneva Convention hadn't happened. President Putin wasn't born. President Poroshenko wasn't born.

What justifies this action directly in recent history?

Despite the tricky and underhanded way that is claimed,

How does that excuse them from right of passage of the Ukraine government by Russia ?
Nobody voted on that. It is breaking a peaceful and peace making treaty and is a act of war by itself.

Perhaps they should be offered a new vote to join the EU, US and/or NATO
I'm sure we could send plenty of voters to skew the election same as the Russians did.

We also have these international agreements to boarders and rights of waterways.
If Russia wishes to break them, then they should be null and void and not protect Russian coastlines and rights of passage and boarders as well.
Sounds like we could send a fleet in to investigate the new waterways.
But I'm sure they can make some crafty argument against that not applying !

Ask them what? Are you saying that the current actions is justified because other actions took place?

I am asking you what action directly justifies the current response. So far you have answered with ancient history and the names of other peoples.

P.S. And don't say "we" please. You are just a HIV-positive fag and you have zero relation to the US army. The only parade you can participate in is a gay one.

You know the old adage, and you probably know it in more than one language: Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if what you say is true, it doesn't justify.

I think people are reacting strongly because no one wants Russia to start annexing again. Cause that leads to war.

Its a hilarious double standard...when USIS drops 25.000 bombs per year US ass is being cleaned by the EU...but now invasion and co. Point their pointy fingers in shock...what a bunch of hypocrites eh? Two wrongs do not make a right but americans opening their mouth is still funny...

It isn't a double standard, because the cases are totally different, and again, even if you were correct, does that now make every bad action in the world legal and acceptable because someone once did a bad thing? There was a robbery without consequences yesterday in northern Kenya, so now every robbery around the world is legal and accepted? Of course that's absurd. The equivalency argument is beneath you.

What I am simply asking is what is the current justification, in this decade, without pointing to any action but those taken by the two parties.

What I am simply asking is what is the current justification, in this decade, without pointing to any action but those taken by the two parties.
hypocrite ....

I think it has to do with Putin making a move while Republicans are still control congress.

Notice how the Republican Congress is not acting to put sanctions on Putin over this move

1st really smart thing so far as I have herd here.

Yes, it is a method. He has used it well.
Keep taking little nibbles and 1st see if anyone notices, 2nd if anyone cares, 3rd if they care enough to act, 4th if they are willing to act enough to stop it.

Putin hated Hillery Clinton because the actions they took after this invasion were so brutal to the oligarchs. We need to see a much larger version of the same.

But don't stop there. There is no reason this time to worry if the Russian people are going to be harshly effected like last time, let those in control answer for their actions and see if it is worth it to them.

He needs internal political pressure this time. Stop trading with them.

Notice how Trump didn't speak out against the Saudis but is speaking out against Putins actions in the Kerch Straight that were recorded and broadcast around the world?

Really? But at some point this will all have to be settled. Trump is vastly weakened as an ally, so what happens next?

In Holland we had a referendum where most voters where against the Ukrain Agreement with the EU. Cause our president doesn't know that no=no he made an extra paper in the agreement that Holland won't be military involved in the Ukrain. Looks like that promise will be broken soon.

Ukrain fucked itself by licking Russia and Europe ass and political leaders that wanted power and money and listened to stupid Eurocrats shouting at the Maiden square and promosing money, help and prosperity. While only a minority of the EU people want Ukrain joining the EU. And why should they, so we can start a war with Russia? To sent more money to Ukrain? And nobody cares if they buy oil from Crimea in Ukrain or Crimea in Russia. I think 90% can't even point out Ukrain on a map.

Not worth to get involved in that dispute. Germany found the solution and will build Nordstream II so that the gas Europe needs from Russia can be transported without the need of Ukrain pipelines.

sure its a double standard...if the USA is going to be a rotten serial invading dirty bastard and the EU its designated ass cleaner, then why the fuck should others play fair?

fuck that shit...the USA and EU opening their invader/ass eater mouths is hilarious...this fake outrage over russia doing 1/100th of what USIS does is some paul markham level hypocrisy...

Get your history ( past or present) straight. Nobody voted in Crimea to join Ukraininan SSR, yet with the fait acompli in the early nineties elections were held, but...

only ... 35 % Crimean population voted for Ukrainian independence ( balance wanted to stay Russian) under pressure 58 % voted for Crimean independence ( from Ukraine) as the next best thing. When this was not granted a compromise was reached ( backed by USA, Russia, England ), Crimea was granted an independent status ( but within the Ukrainian state). After two decades of provocation and mayheam resulting in Maidan coup d' etat in 2014 where Russian interestes in Crimea were endangered : NAMELY presence of Russian fleet in Black Sea ( the reason Russians fought many wars) ,so they annexed it since the majority wanted out from the Ukrainian quagmire anyway.....

So, what is so difficult to understand ? Crimean population voted to join Russia ( their ancestoral homeland)? So what is so undemocratic about that ?

And get this ! I am NOT pro Putin or pro Russian , I am pro Crimean populace. and their freedom to choose!

They are UA citizens. There was no referendum authorized by UA authorities. It was played out by Russian invasion.

The right of a people to self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law (commonly regarded as a jus cogens rule), binding, as such, on the United Nations as authoritative interpretation of the Charter's norms.[1][2] It states that a people, based on respect for the principle of equal rights and fair equality of opportunity, have the right to freely choose their sovereignty and international political status with no interference.[3]
