President Trump will soon formally seek a total of $8.6 billion in new border wall funding from Congress as part of the White House's upcoming budget proposal for the next fiscal year, three sources close to the budget process tell Fox News, although the aggressive request faces all-but-certain rejection in Congress amid a growing crisis at the southern border.
The budget is also expected to seek money to establish the Space Force as a new branch of the military, and to sharply curb spending on domestic safety-net programs.

According to the sources, Trump will look to secure $5 billion from Congress, plus $3.6 billion from the military construction budget, for the fiscal year 2020. The request is coming on top of the $8.1 billion Trump already has access to, which includes money he's trying to shift from military accounts after declaring a national emergency.
Trump invoked the emergency declaration last month after Congress denied his request for $5.7 billion. Instead, Congress approved nearly $1.4 billion for the border barriers, far less than he wanted.

Trump's highest approval rating was 45, which was on 1/29/17 - moments after he took office. Obama's highest approval was 69%. If you look at the lows it's the same thing... Obama's low 38%, while Trump's low was 35%.

If you take the average approval rating over their time in office, Trump ranks at the very bottom with 39%. Obama's was 47%.

Then factor in reality... Obama took over during a crisis, the worst recession of our lifetime, people losing their jobs and their houses. Trump took over with a 4% unemployment rate.

Everyone wants border protection. However, the Republican approach is "build a wall, problem solved". That's not the case - it's been proven time and time again that people can get around the walls. At the same time, the vast majority of the problem is at the ports of entry. We cannot be spending tens of billions of dollars to build walls where no one is crossing.

Also, I am not against the wall because it works. The reality of a wall is that it is only as good as your ability to defend it. We currently have somewhere in the area of 2,000 open job requests for more border patrol agents. They can't get enough people to do the job because it is a shitty job. Unless we can also get the people and technology together to constantly patrol the wall people will find out where it isn't patrolled and they will go over, under, or through it.

A lot of people like to site Israel as using a wall effectively. It works for a couple of reasons. It is small compared to what ours will be and it has watch towers and armed soldiers guarding it 24/7.

We would be better off spending our money and time doing two things that will greatly reduce illegal immigration. 1. End birthright citizenship. This will stop illegals from coming here, having babies, then using those babies to get welfare. 2. Go after people who hire illegals. The agriculture, construction, and food prep industries in this country exist on the backs of illegals. Not too long ago there was a raid of a meat packing plant in Ohio and they found more than 170 illegals working there. Illegals made up 70% of their work force at the company. The people who hired all of them should be thrown in jail, but little or nothing will actually happen to them. We need to punish those who hire illegals harshly so they stop.

If we kill the ability to get welfare and we make it much more difficult to get a job, they will stop coming here, no wall needed.
