The burger chain announced on Monday that it is testing out Impossible Whoppers, made with plant-based patties from Impossible Foods, in 59 locations in and around St. Louis. If all goes well, Burger King will roll out the Impossible Whopper nationally.

Going meatless provides health benefits. The Impossible Whopper has slightly fewer calories than the original, beef-based Whopper, and is very low in cholesterol and has zero trans fats.

The Impossible Whopper is supposed to taste just like Burger King's regular Whopper. Unlike veggie burgers, Impossible burger patties are designed to mimic the look and texture of meat when cooked. The plant protein startup recently revealed a new recipe, designed to look and taste even more like meat. That version is being used in Burger King's Impossible Whoppers.

That being said, I tried some meatless morning sausage patties the other day and they were really really good. If they can make meatless imitations that tastes exactly like the real thing I'm fine with that but I'm not letting go of anything I like unless the imitation tastes exactly the same.... unless there's some world zombie disaster or something which would change everything for everyone anyway.

I LOVE BBQ eel sushi and the article I read says that eel can cause gout as well very interesting. I've never had gout but it's something good to know.

The best lobster I've ever had was at Crusoe's Retreat on Viti Levu island in Fiji caught fresh that day cooked to perfection served with spices on the side, dipped in melted garlic butter with with an ice cold Asahi beer. The way I approach my food is that I eat a mostly plant-based diet and usually one of my meals ends up including an animal protein, preferably fish/seafood. I believe in a more balanced approach. Well, maybe... we will have to wait and see on that. But real meat has its own problems too. It's expensive to produce, livestock causes lots of greenhouse gasses, and water near farms is polluted beyond belief, and of course its cruel.

I have eaten veggie burgers and I am not a fan at all. Meat is delicious. But hey, if this new burger is safe and delicious and nutritious and saves some animals and is better for the planet, then damn right I'll eat them. Its worth a try at least, isn't it? I know holding on to old things and old traditions and old ways are comforting, but if they are bad, they are bad.
