I'm sure Trump will fix this and Robbie will be happy that Nuclear waste will come to
..Las Vegas.
Obama stopped this from happening because the process that started it under Reagan was not fully fleshed out nor had adequate study been done at the time it was approved. In short they a dug a big hole under a mountain near Vegas. The idea is all the nation's nuclear waste could be stored in 1 location. This would mean new railroads would have to be constructed and for nearly 50 years there would be 2 trains a day coming right through Las Vegas with radioactive material being sent to this facility. Obama stopped this from happening because scientists are worried that the radioactive material might actually get into the ground water and poison local water sources. Added to this Vegas would be a known bottleneck in the transportation which could create a terrorist target.. Obama decided to put this on hold and now Republicans want it back in action. I'm sure Trump will solve this issue and Robbie will be happy about it.. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/yucca-m...e-controversy/ I'm sure Trump will fast track the land grab needed for the rail roads and by pass any environmental or safety studies required just like he did for the oil pipeline. We need to get those freedom trains a rolling! I suspect Robbie 100% does not care about this because Trump is MAGA.. |

In the 1950s when they did nuclear tests you could see them from the hotels in Vegas.... Fucking insane. I surely wouldn't live in Vegas.
This picture was taken from the Frontier Hotel in 1955.

This is the administration where the AG once said that melting polar ice caps would mean more business opportunities. They think they can breathe and drink profit. In the end, they don't care because they will be gone when it all comes crashing down.

At least the nuclear fuel is in pretty indestructible shipping containers, versus the trainloads and truckloads of hazardous chemicals going everywhere in pretty flimsy tanks every day.

Oddly here in FL near the airforce bases where they did all the rocket testing during the space races there are "cancer" clusters in certain areas but the govt dunno why... Hummm on second thought maybe this explains what happened the the Baby Boomers..

The liberals might prefer shipping it off to a 3rd world country.
If you generate this waste you have to have the facilities to store it for 10,000s of years after it's decommissioned. Can you imagine how much we will generate in a 100 years considering a typical nuclear power plant in a year generates 20 metric tons of used nuclear fuel. The nuclear industry generates a total of about 2,000 - 2,300 metric tons of used fuel per year. For those who can't do the maths that 200,000 - 230,000 metric tons of nuclear waste. Over only 100 years. |

What's your solution to the problem? I'm sure you have one and not just moaning about Trump. My solution is to come away from Nuclear energy as much as possible. Because the long term problems of disposing of the waste is too big a problem to solve. |
