Factory Outlet Stores In Your Area

Got any? My favorite was Nike up in Braintree near the Mall. 45 minutes away but great bargains. One year I went up there and they had leather high tops, all one color with matching laces. Soft leather, brand new. $50 retail but marked down to $10!! Why?

Colors were lime green, dark green, bright orange, red, light blue, dark blue, light pink, dark pink, mustard yellow, black, light brown, leopard, and a few others. I bought one of each and matched them with shirts. Bought new shirts and a new shoe rack. I spent $170 for sneakers instead of $850!!! Shirts were marked down to $8 from $40 and I bought a few of each color. Shirts for years! I went to Bradlees and stocked up on black leggings. For literally ten years I had a wardrobe of clothes with price tags on them.

There’s a leather factory outlet in Fairhaven that sells wallets, purses and footwear. Brahmin Leather had great small wallets but the leather coats were regular sizes, not plus. Now I’d fit into their stuff.

Gaspar’s Linguica has an outlet but I’ve never been there. Chourico, too, all Portuguese style. I’m not big on fatty meats.

There used to be tons of outlets around here but most have closed. My mom used to go to the South End in New Bedford to a fabric outlet. She’d buy cotton fabric for homemade quilts. Eighty cents (80) a pound for remnants. Patchwork squares on the sewing machine for days, then stuffing each square. I’d help stuff but hated it. Fiberglass stuffing is cotton and sharp pieces. The sets she had were for company. Homemade were for staining!

They had a candy and chocolate outlet on the Cape with homemade ice cream. You could buy a ten pound box of assorted chocolates for five dollars!

There were designer factory outlet stores and I remember Sassoon and Sasson brand stores. Levi, Guess, lingerie whose name I cannot remember, and Wrangler. I’d buy Wrangler jeans for $15 that were $40 in stores. Odd sizes mostly or leftover from last year.

The best part was finding someone you knew who pretended to be a wealthy socialite buying brand names half-priced or less.

I buy my Nike sneakers at the mall. I just bought a pair last week, $54.

Never been to a "outlet mall".

In Niagara region we're surrounded by factory outlets on both sides of the Canada/U.S. border. I seldom shop at them...I never seem to find really great deals worthy of fighting hordes of tourists and congested parking lots.

It amazes me how few people use the outlet stores. I’m not ashamed to shop there! I’d go when earning six figures. I won’t buy bad quality or expired meats, but I don’t need the newest version of sneakers or almost anything else.

I don’t care if I wear anything from three years ago. People who judge me on the age of my style or the lack of the latest fashion can go ... suck an egg!

I don’t need the latest and greatest unless it’s dated food products.

I’d rather my money be in my pocket than anyone else’s. If I can save money, I will.

Rochard, are there no outlets within fifty miles or are you just not aware of them? $54 for Nike is good but wouldn’t $27 be better?!?!

I read that fast as Nigeria! I won’t shop at busy stores, especially being as I am. I never liked congested parking lots and avoided those early sales days. The hassle of it isn’t worth the savings. I see hordes at pre-Thanksgiving sales. Four a.m. and long lines to fight for a few items priced very low. They offer televisions for $99 but in tiny print is “two per store. No rain checks “.

People drive thirty miles each way to save ten dollars. At twenty miles per gallon, that’s three gallons or nine dollar. You save a dollar but you use oil, brake fluid, etc. Lunch out is normal and at the end of the day, you’ve spent the regular price plus. People don’t think of that, though.

Tourists are why I used to go down The Cape or Islands off-season. Crowds, dickering for low prices, bad parking jobs, and the rude commenters. I go to relax, shop, take my time and enjoy myself.

I’m invited to a trip about thirty minutes from Ptown. Thanksgiving time is quiet, uncongested and the roads aren’t crowded. Sometimes it’s sixty degrees and sometimes it snows.

I know it’s odd but sitting on the porch with an electric blanket while it snows is eerily comforting. Every winter I’d get the oddest looks from dog walkers or joggers but I didn’t care. It’s relaxing and a great way to unwind.

I hate shopping.

The last thing I'm going to do is find a place out in the middle of nowhere to go shopping for stuff a little less expensive

Good for you for having fun doing what you like and getting a good deal at the same time!

I used to buy my sneakers at Payless Shoes.... I thought "Sneakers were sneakers". Yeah, but they were lasting me weeks, not months. So I decided to go back to Nike. They cost twice as much, but they last three times as longer.

Nothing wrong with shopping wisely.

My wife shops for groceries at WalMart - not the big store, the "friendly grocer" store where they sell just groceries. The prices are 30% cheaper.
