Florida man caught driving from sunroof tells police he'd rather go to jail than back to his wife
https://www.wthr.com/article/florida...-back-his-wife LAKELAND, Fla. (WTHR) - A Florida man caught on camera sitting through his sunroof while driving told police he'd rather go to jail than back to his wife. Leonard O. Olsen Jr., 70, was spotted by an off-duty deputy on Interstate 4 with his arms outstretched as he traveled down the highway. When authorities pulled him over and told him they had a report he was standing through his sunroof, he replied, "I don't know about that." According to the arrest report, Olsen told police he wanted to surrender because "my wife treats me like a servant and she's the mistress and I'm tired of this (expletive)...Lock me up, I'd rather go back to jail than go back home." A witness told police Olsen was driving recklessly and at speeds in excess of 100 mph, then slowed to about 40 mph. After his arrest, Olsen admitted to sitting on the sunroof. He told officers the car's cruise control was on and it drives itself. "The car drives itself and has a gigantic computer in it," he reportedly told police. He was charged with reckless driving and his car was towed. "(I) "thought it would be a nice way to praise God for a minute, and I thought it would be nice at the time and that's what I did," he told troopers. |
