Let me tell you a story. I was wondering to run tube long time ago. Now Im thinking about more automatic. Embed videos, script. Try to make a deal with sponsors. And think about hosting.

Possible to do and be successful...but takes a bit of work to make your site stand out. Talk about over saturation, anyone with a $2 a month shared hosting account can spin up a Wordpress porn tube in about 10 minutes.

There is no doubt that there are more tubes than ever, thanks to cheap hosting and easily accessible CMS.

I've been selling my scripts for over 10 years, and before that i worked for the people that sell avs...what i have noticed is that 10 years ago you could launch a tube site with hosted or hotlinked or embedded videos and it always worked up to a point, but now embedded doesnt work anymore (i mean it doesnt get good traffic from google) and hotlinked and hosted works, however you have to edit the titles and make the site stand out. Even so, i dont think that launching a tube site on shared hosting will be successful on shared hosting (maybe if you hotlink/embed, but hosted never)...

That being said, i run my own tube, and 10 years ago it converted 1:200 with gfrevenge/watchmygf....now it converts 1:700

If your not running tubes what are you doing to get traffic. I assume your all running cam sites and pointing the traffic to them.

I'm amazed that people searching for porn go to a search engine. Far easier to go to one of the big tubes and use search facilities. Of coarse someone looking to pay for porn would search on Google and get the option to get it for free instead of paying.

I like Ben Dover, early Buttman, Private type porn and girls I've known. Which isn't available on Tubes so have to buy.

To those of you that host the videos yourself; what kinda video quality/filesize etc do you go for?
And any tricks for keeping the size small and quality high?

i think this was not what he was talking about.
to run an "own" tube is a quite expensive thing if you really want the big numbers.
an embedded tube will never get in those regions where the real money is.

absolutely correct.

but hotlinked and embedded is not what google will list.
they link a result in the web search maybe if you have an outstanding description but it will not show up in the video search (wich brings much more users to a site then the web-search).

to get there your site MUST be the source of the video. Google announced already a few months ago that they will prefer to list the chanonical page they find at the end. if you look in all those embed videos and check the header you find out that they are all pointing back to the original site.
so to make an embed tube is just doing the work for them and promote them.

the number one searches are´nt such tubes. they do not even have the video on their own site and they do not rank for their content (because they do not have and offer content) they rank because they are kind of a big search engine where results from multiple domains are listed and categorized.
but also they will only rank in the web-search for the big keys and categories and not show up in video search.

you should use a CDN for that. if you only have one size it will be too bad for some users and too long to wait for others.

just do the maths and imagine you have 1000 video users at the same time and you want to give them at least a downloadspeed of 5 Mbits. with this a user could download theoretically around 600 kB data in one second (if there is no bottleneck somewhere)

on a CDN you hold the videos is different qualities and you deliver this quality wich is the best for this user.

I use Adult Script Pro and my video file sizes are 240, 480, 720, 1080. The script automatically sizes the video. It also offers 4k I believe, but I didn't enable that. I enabled high quality thumbs and have an awesome presentation compared to other tube sites I've seen, but I am using sponsor clips not stand-alone videos so the quality is a little more consistent. I also host the videos as well. I don't think you're going to run any kind of successful tube without using bandwidth so short-cutting isn't going to work in this niche. I'm small potatoes but I do get my beak wet.
