How Are October Sales For You?

As we get closer to the Holiday Season sales usually begin to pick up. But not this year (so far). Then again, September is usually a bad month but this year it was good so who knows? LOL

But how is your October going so far? Seeing any differences in sales/revenue from past months? How is this October different (better/worse) than last October?

Signed my first enterprise customer on my new product this month. $10,000 setup fee. $1500/mo, and $25/seat per month. They are adding 100 seats to start out with plans of adding all 600 developers.

I'm starting to wonder if there is some kind of widespread problem with credit cards that we're not aware of

My primary sponsor, who I have many years worth of recurring sales with from hundreds of active spenders, began demonstrating some very peculiar stats lately. Long time recurring members suddenly stop spending en masse, an unexplained abundance of supposedly new customers who are spending far less than typical new customers used to... it's not my traffic sources. At first I thought maybe it was something the sponsor was doing but the more I see other people post similar things overall, I'm starting to lean toward this more likely being a credit card or billing problem.

But, starting in August, about a third of my Custom clients couldn't get a payment through my primary processor anymore, and sales across outlets took a dive. And, I tried to subscribe to a ModelCentro site myself last month and my bank blocked the payment.
So, it seems a large processor or processors are instituting demand-side anti-porn policies, instead of just the supply-side discrimination many banks have had in the past by refusing or freezing our accounts.

That's interesting because I always think of processing a sale as a chain. Meaning, it goes from website form/buyer's cc info to the processer to the merchant bank to Visa or MasterCard. So somewhere along that "chain" things get bottlenecked or jammed somehow. What the reason is, of course, is unknowable and certainly unchangeable. Still, it's very frustrating to have that feeling of helplessness.

Wow, that is worrisome. October is usually much better for us than this one is. Given how horrible it was when the banks nuked rebilling by turning off millions of credit cards, as part of the conditions for the bailout, this sort of thing makes me jumpy.

Yeah the stats suggest a situation as though people are unable to make a purchase or are unable to login to their old accounts, and are setting up new accounts instead.

I suppose something similar might happen if people were getting banned from their favorite chat rooms as well; but that's just speculation, and it wouldn't explain slow sales at other sites.

We have contactsd our merchant bank and ask for some information and waiting. Decline ration has gone high and approval has gone down and this all started at the start of this month.

Different processors may have different criteria they use to detect fraud.

Some paysites monitor their success ratio with each processor every day and switch to whichever processor is scrubbing the least

Maybe your backup processor has a higher cb buffer for that or the card holder is know there.

The question I ask myself is why US adult companies now have to exchange and transfer their money in euro,
when doing wire transfers to the EU, instead of sending us dollar.

The payment solution problem wants to be the biggest problem for that biz in the next future.

Many major cardholder banks like BofA, Chase, Capital One will decline transactions from known high-risk acquiring banks like Humbolt and Merrick

Where are you getting this information?
Merchant banks still use big processing networks so there's an additional wall between high-risk merchant bank and actual card transaction with customer's bank/card issuer.

I've also read that a sizable percentage of DNH declines are simply NSF being misreported and if a person simply doesn't have enough money on their cards (too much summer spending, maybe?) there's nothing a merchant can do to get that transaction approved.
