Omega 3 supplement recall

If any of you guys take an Omega 3 supplement you may want to check out this FDA recall notice. I have had this a few days now but it seems to be just breaking on the web. I contacted Amazon who supply a lot of the vitamins i take and without asking they gave me a refund for this vitamin going back 5 years.

The FDA only care if they are being paid, with so called natural vitamins they get zero compensation. They dont work on behalf of the public they work for the $$$$

So far they have not released what the full issues are but if this oil comes from fish or other sea creatures around China (Mercury) or near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster then this could blow up ?

I think Amazon as a little worried as its partly their responsibility as suppliers They just gave me a $365. gift card as compensation for the Omega 3 i have purchased from them over the years....

As a rule, the FDA does not regulate supplements. If you want to make sure you're actually getting what you think you are buying, stick with brands that are USP verified - mainly NatureMade and Kirkland (CostCo) brands.

It's interesting that the article mentions NY as several years ago the AG in NY had popular store-brand supplements tested and when most failed, to have them removed from shelves.

The F.D.A. requires that companies verify that every supplement they manufacture is safe and accurately labeled. But the system essentially operates on the honor code.

Under a 1994 federal law, supplements are exempt from the F.D.A.’s strict approval process for prescription drugs, which requires reviews of a product’s safety and effectiveness before it goes to market.

Thats an interesting article i especially like this quote At Walmart, the authorities found that its ginkgo biloba, a Chinese plant promoted as a memory enhancer, contained little more than powdered radish, houseplants and wheat — despite a claim on the label that the product was wheat- and gluten-free.

I just had my Dr do a blood workup focusing on heavy metals just to be safe as i have taken a lot or these Omega3 based vitamins over the years. It's ironic that you try to stay healthy only to have dishonest greedy companies fuck you over !
