PS - before Paul starts throwing pointless bullshit at me: age verification only works if everyone has to implement it and this can only happen if Visa, Mastercard and all other payment providers agree on the same rules. It works in Germany but they forgot that there is an internet outside of Germany. And I keep repeating this for about 15 years now.

As far as I know it's not actually a legal requirement in most jurisdictions - Most people will enter a site via a deep link anyway...

The side of the industry. Free porn has ruined the porn industry and any measures to restrict are great in my opinion.

As for the last bit about access to porn by the masses. That is an old thing to be going on about. In the trial of Lady Chatterley's Lover, the judge said on October 21, 1960. “Is it a book that you would even wish your wife or your servants to read?” The question put to the jury by Crown prosecutor Mervyn Griffiths-Jones became a classic statement of sexism and snobbery in the judiciary.

A ban by Visa and Mastercard would work to keep porn for only those who can pay for it. It won't be easy but how are the remaining payment processors going to support the millions of free porn clips and scenes available on Tubes?

Paying $1 a day isn't much to access porn, get rid of the expensive affiliate system that supports and promotes free porn and prices can topple and production budgets soar. You had to change jobs because the old one was killed off.

I made my money before porn was so free.

Saying that some will walk through fire, some will find a way and leaving to the parents isn't an answer. Because using those excuses and applying them to other crimes allows people to break them. So why is porn so different in the opinion of people putting up all the porn accessible to children. It can't be that this method of distributing porn is making you rich, there was more money to be made before it was freely available to anyone with a phone.

It's funny, your first comment was - 'age verification would be good for the adult community' (in other words, pornographers would make more money).

Then you accuse anybody against the bone headed age verification laws of wanting children to access pornography.

How about we all care about our livelihoods, and we all care about the welfare of children, and some of us just think that these age verification laws were clumsy and ineffective and an excuse for broader censorship, and others (like you) think they'd be an opportunity for the adult industry to be more profitable?

If you really wanted to stop children accessing pornography badly enough, you would make pornography illegal and put anyone posting 'indecent' material online in prison for 20 years, as the likes of China and Saudi Arabia do. Anything other than that is a middle-ground, and we're entitled to discuss what that middle ground should be.

The 80's and early 90's. I remember them well.

I was a teen myself, and I remember buying the likes of Razzle and Escort every month when I was 15 or 16 in UK newsagents. Did you shoot for them? I remember going into sex shops in Germany and not even encountering a second glance as me and my classmates bought hardcore VHS tapes. Maybe some of yours.

Would have been a good time to be a pornographer, especially if you had no concerns about teens getting hold of your material.
