Advice from anybody using Epoch / Paypal on their sites

Hi Guys

We are considering adding Epoch to our main network https://www.tacamateurs.com for signups. Purely because they can offer paypal and i guess a lot of users would prefer that.

I know i tend to only buy from places that have paypal.

The risk for us is that we currently process signups via our OWN merchant account (which means our rates are less than HALF of what CCBill or Epoch typically charge)

So by adding Paypal we may attract more users but we will also be paying a lot higher fees

So my question it, Is it worth it ? What kind of percentage of users opt for Paypal and more importantly, would they have still signed up with a credit card if you DIDNT have paypal ?

Would appreciate any input/feedback from Epoch users (or anybody from Epoch if they are on here)

Thanks

You won't really know until you try for your sites. But I would say you are looking at maybe a 10% bump if you include PayPal as an option.

Stick with your own merchant for US/CA customers. I would advise against processing with Epoch/PayPal for US customers. The Epoch fees for PayPal are ridiculously high and its way too easy for customers to cancel. You will likely see a reduction in revenue.

If you can Geo target your billers, I would use Epoch/PayPal only for EU markets and use Vendo for all other non-EU markets. If you cannot Geo target your billers stick with your own Merch but add Epoch/PayPal as a second payment option on your join pages.

Also you may want to bill in euros for EU markets. If you cannot, remove the dollar sign on your join pages.

Epoch requires that you send regular sales as well. You can't just send PayPal sales. That may eat into your revenue further due to the ~15% vs MID transactions.

Offer Epoch as a backup biller and don't mention PayPal on your join page because if you do, it may cannibalize your regular merchant account sales.

Most likely if a user is on your actual join page (card input page), they're ready to sign up either way. PayPal, if discovered by them, may just be a pleasant surprise.
